Thanks to the power of Facebook, I received the post about the 2 month challenge that started at the beginning of November. The post talked about how 'Body Box MCR' wasn't your average gym as in it was free from the stereotypical aspects I struggle with and find at the majority of gyms.
For most of my adult life, I have not been a fan of gyms. Primarily, I felt that I was being judged by those around me who seemed super fit and professional gym goers. There I was, overweight, self conscious and trying to hide underneath my ill-fitting gym clothes. Over the years, I have spent lots of money on membership I didn't use and personal training I didn't enjoy.
My health is now at the forefront of my mind as well as becoming happier and more like the old me. When I first joined the gym, I attended the group sessions and it was just as it was sold to me. Everyone welcomed me with open arms and I didn't feel judged at all.
For personal reasons, I am now seeing Mel on a 1:1 basis and she is thankfully putting me through my paces. I find it hard to describe the gym I go to when others ask. They look at me strangely when I say it is an industrial unit which is freezing cold but warmed by the love and care inside (slightly cheesy I know)

I grew up in the 90's and was catapulted into the diet culture. Every fad diet there was, I was trying to do it. But I failed at all of them. I even tried the slimming clubs, and would have what I call the famous 2 pounds. One week the 2 pounds would go, the next week they'd be back. I was on a constant seesaw which I couldn't get off. As I grew older and bouncing between the newest fad going, I began to suffer with anxiety, and would more often than not suffer panic attacks.

Darren really challenges me and seems to know my capabilities or how much more I can be pushed more than I do. He’s very intuitive and easy to work with while still being challenging. Working closely with a wide range of people of all ages. At the moment, I have clients ranging from 25 to 74 and of all kinds of fitness levels and physical ability.
No two days are the same.
I'd wanted to become a PT for years, but I had a family to provide for, so I had to stay with my job in logistics management.
Unfortunately (fortunately?), I was made redundant on the back of the Rover Longbridge closure. It gave me the opportunity to start again with a clean slate doing something that I'd wanted to do for years.
I've been a Personal Trainer & Massage Therapist for 15 years and I've worked in all kinds of fitness establishments (which is why I choose to work from my own studio now).
I have 57 years of life experience during which time I've raised three children. I know EXACTLY what it's like to juggle work and family and STILL try to fit in something for me. It always helps to have someone who's had the same experience as you.
I spent four years at college earning my qualifications. rather than the four weeks that most PT's seem to do these days (hence PT's being ten a penny at the moment).
As I work on a one-to-one bases, it makes cleaning equipment between clients much easier than it is in a public gym, with members using the same equipment.
All equipment used is sanitised between sessions ans there is ample supply of hand sanitiser and wipes for you to use.
I also keep a track and trace record for each session.
