Magicians for hire - weddings, parties and events

Finding a magician can be quite a specialist task. We help you to find suitable magicians based near you who can perform for guests at a children’s party, wedding, or other events.

From illusionist to tarot, we can provide quotes from magicians of all varieties.

Choosing the right Magician

How much is a Magician?

So, how much does a magician cost for a birthday party? Do they charge more for certain events? A magician isn’t an everyday service so it can be hard to know what costs to expect.

There is no standard price and it can vary hugely depending on the skills, availability, and location of the magician in question.

Types of Magician

  • Sleight of hand - These sorts of magicians rely a lot on card tricks and the sort of magic tricks you would expect in a small party environment rather than on a big scale with a stage and lots of props.
  • Illusionists - Think of the sort of shows that leave you wondering “how did they do that?”. “Sawing” an assistant in half is an example of an illusion. They often have big stage setups.
  • Children’s Magician - Nothing too heavy. These are the sort of magicians that are fantastic for children’s parties, they tend to have a good rapport with children and plenty of fun and light-hearted tricks. The adults might work out the tricks, but most children will be spellbound.
  • Comedy Magician - Half stand-up comedian, half magician, these are a great choice for getting the guests at a party or wedding involved and having a laugh while being wowed!

How do I check the Magician’s credentials?

Magicians come from a variety of backgrounds, so it can be hard to check their credentials. However, there are a number of different performance guilds as well as prestigious membership clubs such as The Magic Circle. A true magic specialist will probably have a membership to these sorts of organisations so keep an eye out for those who advertise that they are part of a magician’s guild.

In the modern age, you can check a lot about the magician before you employ their services. For example, you can check if they have a YouTube page where you might even be able to watch their magic show and see them in action. Online reviews and testimonials are also a very good way to check that other customers vouch for their skills.

‘21 Certificate of Excellence

Everyone loves a good party (and boy do we have a lot to catch up on!), and so, that's where I come in, with my lively, engaging sleight of hand, entrancing performances and those OMG moments (not to mention my uncanny ability to memorise everyone’s names on the spot). Fusing comedy with magic will have your guests aching with laughter, which makes for fantastic candid photo ops if you have a photographer present. It also helps captivate crowds, creates a convivial atmosphere, saves your guests from all those awkward first impressions, gets them mingling in minutes and forming new and lasting connections in no time at all. And I love every single minute of doing so. For more information or to arrange a call-back to chat through your plans and to see how I can help, visit: www.icebreakingmagic.co.uk. If I'm available for your event and fit your needs, then I'll send over an email via Bark and directly to your email address for ease. Magical Regards Leigh Edgecombe The Professional Icebreaker

How long have you been interested in magic?

Leigh was bitten by the magic bug from a super-early age, when he witnessed his very first trick performed by his grandad… and “just like that!” he was hooked!

From that moment on, life for Leigh was all about performing for his family and bamboozling his buddies at every opportunity, magic sets for Christmas and Birthday prezzies and entering as many school and local talent shows as was humanly possible.

Take us through your show – what can we expect?

Up Close –
This is Leigh’s favourite way to perform his magic up close to your guests, right in front of their eyes, under their nose and in their hands. This style of magic is perfect for most occasions where Leigh can mingle through your guests and create little shows in their groups using borrowed objects such as pens, rings, string, rubber bands, coins, notes and anything else Leigh can get his hands on!

Table Top Magic –
This is very similar to up close magic but where your guests are seated around a table. The tricks Leigh performs in this style are normally much bigger than the usual up close magic so that everyone around the table can be involved. Most of the magic Leigh performs happens in your guests hands, however when a table is present Leigh may take advantage and use it for ease.

Stage/Cabaret/Parlour Magic –
Leigh has created a performance for each of these platforms that is tailored towards the audience. The length of these performances range from 25 minutes to an hour and a half, depending what your event is and what your needs are. The shorter performances are an ideal way to end off the evening having everyone involved or highlighting the lucky person celebrating their birthday by a special magic trick – just for them! They also can be great ways to make the CEO, MD or VIP appear in a magical way on stage.

What do you love most about your job?

I have the pleasure of bringing people together and forming lasting friendships and have been for the past 12 years :)

What inspired you to start your own business?

To think that I would be making a living from being a full-time magician is still unbelievable to me that I get to break the ice and bring people together through entertaining them with my magic.

At first it was just a hobby that grew into a career which I love to bits!!

Why should our clients choose you?

I have kept my business going throughout the lockdowns having adapted to the virtual world performing to clients on there, however I am now craving to get back out into the in-person events as much as you are looking forward to having them.

I can't wait to be with you, breaking the ice, kicking off your events for them to be etched in the minds of your guests for years to come. I can guarantee a fantastic experience for you all to share.

"It's just possible, that you've come here seeking a magician. Let me tell you now you've come to the right place! But you've found a lot more than a guy who does tricks. Leigh is a charismatic young man who works hard at what he does. He engages people in front of their very eyes, draws them into his work and leaves them amazed. He performed at my 60th birthday gathering and from the ripples of applause and gasps of "no way" I knew they were enjoying his performance. Two days later and I'm still bumping into people who say "who was that magician, where did you find him, he was excellent" So if you came here looking for an entertainer whose also a top class close up magician to perform at your special event then look no further. You've found him. Thanks Leigh"

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

Yes, since May 2020 I adapted my services to the virtual world and currently provide interactive shows, team building session for team events and can host/facilitate digital conferences. Get in touch to find out more at: www.icebreakingmagic.co.uk/virtual-events

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

I have created a new style of magic coined I.C.E which stands for Interactive, Contactless, Entertainment and is the perfect engaging experience to celebrate small weddings, garden gatherings or parties.

For smaller gatherings, my ICE act is best enjoyed together as a full hour of stand up magic for everyone to be involved in or as a walkabout act entertaining guests where they sit or stand.
