How to choose the right window fitter

When comparing window fitters, check they're FENSA registered or work with installers who are, as this ensures compliance with building regulations. Ask to see examples of completed installations and read reviews from local customers.

Discuss the window styles, materials and glazing options they offer, and get detailed quotes that include supply, fitting, finishing and guarantees. Check what warranties they provide on both the windows and installation work.

Bark lets you explore local window fitters so you can find experienced installers who deliver quality work at fair prices.

FAQs

How much does window installation cost?

Bark's research shows UPVC casement windows cost £350 to £600 per window fitted. Sash windows cost £800 to £1,500 each, bay windows £1,500 to £3,500. Full house double glazing for a three-bed semi costs £4,000 to £8,000 including supply, installation and VAT.

How long does window installation take?

Single window replacement takes two to four hours. A full house typically takes one to three days depending on window numbers and types. Most fitters complete everything in one visit after the initial survey and ordering.

Do window fitters need to be FENSA registered?

The company doing the work should be FENSA registered or provide equivalent certification to meet building regulations. This protects you legally and provides insurance-backed guarantees. Always check for certification before hiring.

What do you love most about your job?

Here at Home Guard, we love to help people solve their issues whether that might be to make their house warmer or to improve the physical appearance of their property. Sometimes just to make those little changes that make a big difference

What inspired you to start your own business?

What inspired the birth of Home Guard was a couple of friends who worked in the glazing and building industry for a while, they felt that there was a lot of little things that make a big difference that were overlooked by the other companies like aftercare once the product is installed or the initiative when designing the products to understand what the customer needs and wants and then to best advise.

Why should our clients choose you?

If you want the quality of a multinational company and the reliability but also want the personal care and experience of a local outfit then we do fit the bill.

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

We are sorry but to provide the quality of product and service and the experience of installation and product design we do need to phyically come to the property

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

During covid-19 we have made several changes all Home Guard employees have hand sanitiser and masks with them at all times and we try to keep in minimum contact and range of customers.

Really happy with the LVT flooring done by GnD. Waz was easy to deal with, turned up when he said he would, and the finish looks great. The whole job went smoothly and the house already feels better with the new flooring. Would definitely recommend Waz and GnD if you need flooring done!

Just so happy with the whole experience really, craig is so easy to work with, even though I'm probably not! Our garage conversion is amazing, just what we wanted, and our porch is such a great addition to our house. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend craig and his team.
