We are new to BARK, please view some of the (170 plus) wonderful reviews of our handmade furniture, mirrors and picture frames on our Etsy shop page (link below) At Marc Wood Joinery; we create handmade eco-friendly pieces, crafted from solid wood. Based in our rural Somerset workshop, we are always happy to create something completely bespoke for you, or you can choose from our many designs, we can also adapt these to suit your needs. Using a mixture of reclaimed and eco friendly FSC certified timbers, Marc is a creative designer-maker of beautiful, high quality furniture, mirrors and picture frames. He has an art and design background and trained in Joinery to put his furniture design into practice, inspired by a love of the diverse west-country landscape of rolling hills, ancient woodland, and wild coasts. Together with wife Rachel they run Marc Wood Joinery from their Somerset workshop, situated within a complex of 18th Century farmland outbuildings and shared amongst a lively local artisan community. Our assistant Dom has trained in joinery and loves the outdoor life, one of his favourite duties is walking our lively Jack Russell puppy 'Marv' in the afternoons and he is an excellent sounding board for Marc's latest designs. This thriving small online business offers ready made and bespoke pieces for those who want high quality furniture design and craftsmanship with a commitment to sustainability, minimising waste and re-using discarded materials. Taking the leap to start Marc Wood Joinery just over 5 years ago has allowed them the flexibility to spend more time with their young son Arthur and an opportunity to explore the possibilities of eco living while making the best of their skills. Contact Marc and Rachel Wood today if you have any questions or wish to discuss a custom order on 01460 241372 or email us at marcswood@hotmail.co.uk. We are always happy to create something bespoke for you, just ask.
We most enjoy the opportunity to work with our clients to design and craft a great quality, solid piece of furniture; a piece that they will cherish and enjoy using for a long time.
We are a family business and we share an interest in sustainable, eco friendly living while working together to balance workshop/office and home life; this way we get to see the most of our beautiful surroundings, friends and family, especially our lively young son Arthur.
I have an art and design background and always enjoyed making things to my own specifications. After making a few bits of furniture for camper vans and as shop fit, I was inspired to train in Joinery to put my furniture design into practice.
Our business literally started in the garden shed, where I made a few cabinets from old pallets and bits of broken dressers etc that were donated by friends and family, this was great as we wanted to be as eco friendly and sustainable as possible. We thought we'd put them online and see if anyone wanted to buy them; two increasingly larger premises, two employees, five years later and we have a three to four week waiting list and lots of happy customers.
We will work with you to find the perfect design to suit your home, lifestyle and budget; we will then handcraft your design from eco friendly timbers or your choice of hardwood sourced from our local artisan woodyard. We use traditional jointing techniques so you know that your piece will be a solid and long lasting investment piece.
Customer service is very important to us and we will always be happy to answer any questions and do our very best to your satisfaction, contact Marc and Rachel to discuss how we can craft something perfect for you.
