  • Structural drying of walls, floors, ceilings and affected areas

  • Dehumidification to prevent mould growth

  • Flood damage restoration and emergency clean-up

  • Water damage repair to structural elements

  • Content drying and restoration of belongings

  • Structural repairs to plasterwork and flooring

  • Insurance liaison and documentation

Many professionals offer 24/7 emergency call-outs and rapid response services.

When to book water damage restoration

Contact a specialist immediately when:

  • You discover flooding from burst pipes or plumbing failures

  • Your property suffers storm or weather-related water damage

  • You notice water pooling, sodden carpets or spreading damp patches

  • Sewage backups cause contamination

  • You detect musty smells indicating hidden moisture

  • Appliances or heating systems leak and cause damage

The first 24 to 48 hours are critical to prevent structural damage, mould growth and escalating costs.

How to choose the right water damage restoration professional

When comparing water damage restoration companies, check they have industrial-grade equipment including dehumidifiers and moisture meters. Ask about response times, as damage worsens rapidly and needs attention within hours.

Look for professionals who use thermal imaging to detect hidden moisture in walls and floors. If you're making an insurance claim, confirm they have experience working with insurers.

Bark lets you explore local specialists so you can find someone who responds quickly and handles the work properly.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does water damage restoration cost?

Bark's research shows water damage restoration typically costs between £1,500 and £5,000, depending on damage extent and area size. Small leaks may cost £500 to £1,500, while major flood restoration can exceed £10,000. Emergency call-outs and structural repairs affect the final price.

How long does water damage restoration take?

Minor damage takes three to five days, whilst extensive flood damage may take two to four weeks. Drying takes three to seven days depending on materials and humidity levels. Structural repairs add extra time.

Will my insurance cover water damage restoration?

Most policies cover sudden damage from burst pipes or appliance leaks. Flood damage from external sources typically requires separate flood insurance. Gradual damage from poor maintenance is usually not covered. Check your policy and inform your insurer immediately.
