Why hire a fitness professional?

A trainer provides a level of personalisation that a group class cannot. By focusing on your specific goals - like weight loss or preparing for your first marathon - you will see faster, safer results.

Choosing a qualified Chichester trainer

Safety and expertise are vital. Ensure your coach, whether they are a weight loss specialist or a female personal trainer, holds a Level 3 qualification and has valid insurance.

Budget-friendly fitness tips

One of the best ways to lower your bill is a hybrid approach. Use a local trainer for a fortnightly check-in, then train solo in a Chichester park or gym.

‘20 Certificate of Excellence

I choose to work with committed individuals who value personal training/coaching, understand how change/adaptation works and take a patient, long-term and life-long approach to health, fitness and well-being. I offer a variety of services, my skill set ranging from teaching kettlebell to boxing to weight-lifting to powerlifting to MovNat to body transformations. Mostly, I work 1:1 or in small groups and tailor my programs to suit your needs, fitness and ability level. For body transformations, I am the only Amazing 12 coach in the region. The Amazing 12 Body Transformation Program is the No. 1 body transformation program in the world. Designed by renowned strength and conditioning coach Paul McIlroy in Belfast, it has been responsible for changing the lives of many through increased strength, fitness and improved body composition. I am one of only about 50 Amazing 12 coaches worldwide. There are three A12 programs: The Classic is 12 weeks long (60 sessions). It gets results, teaches good technique and healthy dietary habits. It requires commitment. The benefits are 10-fold. The Express (36 sessions) is for those who don't have time to train five days a week - it's a three-day-per-week program. Then there is The Life program (36 sessions) - this is a rolling program that can be used with success for life, designed to bring about continual, but steady progress, training three times weekly and changing in format every 12 weeks. Personal training: I take a long-term view of fitness and well-being with the emphasis first and foremost on safety, injury-prevention and good form/technique. I like to say that I practice rather than train. Every session is an opportunity to refine skills. I'm not in the business of leaving my clients broken and crushed. The objective for me is to bring about progress and use any movement-based training to enhance your life. If you are committed, have a desire to learn how to move well, want a measured approach from a coach with experience (I have been training over 35 years) and a philosophy that values longevity, I'm your man.

How do you help your clients achieve their fitness goals?

First stop is to assess the goal - to see if it's realistic and achievable. Then we need to look at how much time we have - weeks or a lifetime - and how frequently you are able to train. I would then assess your movement in order to see what limitations I may be working with and from this information I can structure a plan based initially on the skills you already have. I am a big believer in teaching and sticking to the basics. More complicated doesn't often equal better results.

The two greatest obstacles I've faced when working with clients. 1. Lack of patience 2. Poor lifestyle choices.

What’s the secret to getting the body of your dreams?

Eating cleanly and healthily and knowing what function each food group provides, putting in the required amount of training, following a program that is designed to achieve the goals you have in mind and making sure you get adequate rest/recovery. It's really that simple - in principle.

What do you love most about your job?

Seeing people transformed, helping clients achieve their goals, watching clients make progress and knowing I've had a positive impact on someone's life. I know that by helping one person I am probably helping 10. By improving your strength, health and fitness, you are able to function better in your job, family and life in general. The knock-on effect is powerful. To be a part of that is rewarding enough.

What inspired you to start your own business?

Being my own boss, I know I can follow my own philosophy, which is continually evolving and the result of many decades training in different types of movement and sports. I've learned from mistakes I have made and injuries I have received. I am always learning. Rather than dancing to a tune I don't like the sound of, I now make my own 'music'. I believe in what I do and understand the process of change and true value of health.

Why should our clients choose you?

1. I care. 2. I want you to succeed. 3. I have standards. 4. I am strict with my standards. 5. I work towards high standards. 6. I accept there is a beginning and there is working towards an end. 7. I want you to leave every session with me feeling like you have made progress and were better than when you started. 8. I have been training for over 30 years. 9. My experience has taught me a lot. 10. I understand this is a two-way street - that to get results we have to work together. 11. I have worked with clients of different ages, levels of ability and both sexes. 12. I know my limitations and won't try to mislead you if I don't have the answers. 13. I have many examples of clients who have achieved amazing transformations. 14. My clients trust and respect me, which means a lot. 15. I have knowledge about diet and nutrition as well as training.
