‘21 Certificate of Excellence

Hi there, I work out of a private studio in the city centre, it’s a fantastic, chilled out environment and will never be chockablock (currently there are 3 full time trainers including myself, so we’re never falling over each other). It’s right next to Anderston station and a 10 minute walk from central, so ideal if you’re getting the train. There’s also street parking and a private car park right across the street that always has a few free spaces. I do monthly blocks that go down in price (per session) the more you do, most of my clients do blocks of 8 (so 2 a week) but they can be messed about with to fit your schedule/needs as well so feel free to negotiate! I also offer small group PT if you have a friend/partner that wants to come along which only costs a wee bit more (effectively halving the cost). This option would be slightly less tailored but having a training partner is really good fun. This also includes a ton of nutrition guidance, which will be as big a focus as the training itself! Feel free to fire any questions/queries you have at me and I’ll reply as soon as I’m able. If I don't reply right away, send me a message on my Instagram page and I'll get back to you ASAP!

How do you help your clients achieve their fitness goals?

My over-arching ideal is to educate myself out of a job, ensuring that every one of my clients knows exactly why they’re doing a certain exercise or making adjustments to their diets. I like to tow the line between the journey being fun but also results driven, which can be tough but ultimately gets the best, longest lasting outcomes!

What’s the secret to getting the body of your dreams?

Consistency. Consistency. Consistency. The best plan in the world won’t matter if you can’t make it work in the long term, which is why I put a huge emphasis on making sure my clients training and nutrition plans work specifically for them. Body recomposition is a complex process, but I can show you how it’s done!

What do you love most about your job?

I love getting to know my clientele and get a lot of joy helping them. Taking control of your health has a massive positive knock on effect to every other arena of your life, so being the catalyst for that is an amazing feeling.

What inspired you to start your own business?

Going out on your own is scary business, but becoming a PT was my life’s ambition so I took the chance as soon as it arrived. I haven’t looked back since.

Why should our clients choose you?

I’m good at what I do and aim to offer the best customer experience possible. I’m constantly adapting and evolving my systems and methods to match current research, so your time spent with me will be as efficient and effective as it possible can be. I love my job and take immense joy and satisfaction watching my clients becoming who they want to be!

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

I use an app to deliver sessions at home/in commercial gyms, and can also deliver 1-1 via zoom/FaceTime etc.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

Our gym is completely private, so we have absolute control over the space and the amount of people using it at any given time. We clean equipment in real time and deep clean every few days, and have separate entrance and exit doors.

Personal Trainers FAQs

Expand all

It depends on your end goal. If you’re training for a marathon, you might work out nearly every day of the week. If you’re a low-level beginner, a minimum of three times a week is enough to make a noticeable impact. No matter what you’re working out for, everyone needs rest and recovery days. Without them, your muscles won’t be able to recuperate and grow strong, so remember to factor in some down-time, too!

Pretty much anywhere! The great thing about personal training is that it’s flexible - as long as you have the necessary equipment, you and your instructor can decide to have your sessions from the gym, your home, the park, or even your office if you want to!

Yes! First of all, they will chat with you about your goals, and discuss the best way to achieve them. They should also ask you to fill in a consent form to check that you don’t have any pre-existing health conditions that could impact your exercise. They’ll also carry out a health assessment to get a better idea of your current fitness level, tailoring your workout plan around that.

It's tricky to say, as personal training sessions vary significantly depending on what you want to achieve and the type of workout. Generally, one personal training session tends to last forty-five minutes to one hour. It will start with a gentle warm-up, followed by the nitty-gritty of the actual workout, with stretches to end the session. Remember, warming up and stretching is essential for injury prevention - it’s just as important as the main part of the workout!

A personal trainer needs to be clued up on all aspects of fitness, from the most effective exercise techniques to nutrition and human anatomy- that’s a lot of responsibility! You need to make sure your professional is suitably qualified for the job. After all, you shouldn’t cut corners when it comes to investing in your health. Make sure your trainer has the minimum qualifications required to practice. In the UK, this is the Level 3 Personal Trainer qualification.

Absolutely! Online personal training has become increasingly popular as more people are looking to maintain their fitness during lockdowns and gyms closing. As long as you and your personal trainer have a strong internet connection and a device to stream on like a laptop, tablet or smartphone, there's no reason why your session can't be delivered remotely.
