Having trained with Ricardas for 4 years, he is enthusiastic, professional and loves his job.
Since I've started with Ricardas, I've lost several stone and am now entering fitness competitions - something completely unthinkable before I started training with him. His encouragement has taken me from someone who absolutely dreaded fitness and training to someone who would quite happily spend every spare minute in the gym.
He also has an encyclopaedic knowledge across a wide range of sports and equipment, and he enjoys sharing it; I can personally vouch for his expertise in bodybuilding, weightlifting, strength, conditioning and crossfit, and I know he's coached professional bodybuilders/strongmen previously. Even after 20 years in sport and training, he still wants to keep learning and developing. This extends to his own training; the exercises he asks you to do are ones he does himself, and he's quite happy to explain the principles behind all of the routines/exercises he gives.
Ricardas is also supportive, adaptable and fastidious about safety; I've had sessions where he's been able to invent new routines to work with the limitations of my body and he's more than happy for you to message him about exercise routines and nutrition in between training.
The sessions themselves are normally fun but hard; as other reviews have said, he'll push you, but you'll quickly notice the changes and feel in better condition and stronger than before. (He also has an unerring knack for knowing where the line is and when to stop, as well as knowing your capabilities, even if you don't)
The sessions are also varied and Ricardas likes to continually add new things into the mix to stop things getting repetitive, something he's managed to do even after having trained for years with him. Even with the current pandemic, he's still managed to create varied workouts that need minimal equipment and deliver sessions via the internet.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Ricardas as a personal trainer to people from all training backgrounds (beginner or veteran, or even with health conditions), and I've personally recommended him to close friends and family in real life.

I am all about an overall healthy way of living. As a firm believer of practicing what I preach, I aim to lead by example, particularly when it comes to the clients I train! Whether it’s improving your overall fitness, nutrition advice, training programmes, weight loss or training for a specific goal (ie. an event, holiday , wedding or just life in general ) then I have the knowledge, experience, skills and determination to assist you in achieving your target and keeping you there!
By, structuring complete body workouts, prompting additional physical activity outside of the gym environment throughout the week, sound nutrition advice and helpful tips, encouraging consistency and honesty with regards to extra curricular physical activities and nutrition!
I believe that most importantly, You must decide where You want to be.
After that, depending on you goal then its predominantly about getting as active as you can be. Humans are supposed to be highly active! The body reacts so well and responds so much better and is more relaxed after exercise, and of course in addition - nourished with the right nutrition, can be fuelled towards a size and shape that naturally lends the body to function at its optimum level.
It has to be the diversity of the job, be it training a vastly broad range of clients from complete beginners to the highly experienced, to being able to work in the great outdoors as well as the studio and gyms .
I get a great sense of pride and achievement when I see how quickly clients can improve their fitness and ultimately their lifestyle and I have always liked the idea of being in the drivers seat with regards to my livelihood.
I see myself as a Personal Trainer who is about the whole Lifestyle experience, in that I believe healthy living should be something that you thoroughly enjoy the journey of. I know that if you can enjoy the training side of things, then that's half the battle, and eating healthily certainly does NOT have to be a miserable affair! I'm very realistic in terms of how busy we can all be in life and that at times its not always easy to stay on the straight and narrow.. That being said, If we can get you choosing the right foods with regards to nutrition for the majority of the time, then you will be able to achieve your goals even without sacrificing those indulgent times!!
Should I work out every day of the week?
It depends on your end goal. If you’re training for a marathon, you might work out nearly every day of the week. If you’re a low-level beginner, a minimum of three times a week is enough to make a noticeable impact. No matter what you’re working out for, everyone needs rest and recovery days. Without them, your muscles won’t be able to recuperate and grow strong, so remember to factor in some down-time, too!
Where can I have my personal training sessions?
Pretty much anywhere! The great thing about personal training is that it’s flexible - as long as you have the necessary equipment, you and your instructor can decide to have your sessions from the gym, your home, the park, or even your office if you want to!
Does my fitness instructor need to know anything about me?
Yes! First of all, they will chat with you about your goals, and discuss the best way to achieve them. They should also ask you to fill in a consent form to check that you don’t have any pre-existing health conditions that could impact your exercise. They’ll also carry out a health assessment to get a better idea of your current fitness level, tailoring your workout plan around that.
What does a standard personal training session involve?
It's tricky to say, as personal training sessions vary significantly depending on what you want to achieve and the type of workout. Generally, one personal training session tends to last forty-five minutes to one hour. It will start with a gentle warm-up, followed by the nitty-gritty of the actual workout, with stretches to end the session. Remember, warming up and stretching is essential for injury prevention - it’s just as important as the main part of the workout!
What qualifications should a personal trainer have?
A personal trainer needs to be clued up on all aspects of fitness, from the most effective exercise techniques to nutrition and human anatomy- that’s a lot of responsibility! You need to make sure your professional is suitably qualified for the job. After all, you shouldn’t cut corners when it comes to investing in your health. Make sure your trainer has the minimum qualifications required to practice. In the UK, this is the Level 3 Personal Trainer qualification.
Can I get a Personal Trainer online?
Absolutely! Online personal training has become increasingly popular as more people are looking to maintain their fitness during lockdowns and gyms closing. As long as you and your personal trainer have a strong internet connection and a device to stream on like a laptop, tablet or smartphone, there's no reason why your session can't be delivered remotely.
