How to find the perfect London-based mobile DJ

You’re spoilt for choice when it comes to booking disc jockeys in London. As one of the biggest cities in the world with a thriving music scene, London has no shortage of professional DJs. This makes it all the more important that you can refine your search to ensure you find the perfect DJ and music for your event. So, whether you need a chart DJ to play the latest pop songs for a children’s party or a renowned turntablist for an exclusive club night, London has something for everyone.

Plus all those little extras

The difference between a good event and a great one is often in the details. From karaoke at a birthday party to a smoke machine at a children’s disco, it’s the little extras that contribute to creating a genuinely memorable event. At Bark, we’d hate to see you miss out on any added bonuses, which is why we present you with as much information about each DJ as we can. Simply review each DJ’s profile, find the perfect match, and then rest assured that you have booked the best disc jockey for your London event.

Enjoy the best sound equipment for your event

There’s an art to being a professional DJ and while much depends on experience, equipment plays a major role too. Nothing can ruin a successful event quicker than problems with the music, especially if it’s a technical problem that can’t be easily fixed. The level of equipment necessary for your event will depend on your requirements, the DJ’s ability and the set up at your venue. To ensure there are no avoidable mishaps on the big day, Bark provides you with detailed profiles of each prospective DJ. This includes their equipment level, industry experience, customer reviews and direct links to their websites. With this information, you can examine the credentials of each DJ service to find the perfect match for your event.

Hear from
a professional

How did you get into DJing?

I’ve always loved music. From listening to my parents’ Motown records when I was a kid to DJing at my friends’ parties at university, music has pretty much been my life. I’d been playing around with music on my computer for years before I became a professional DJ, and I’ve been creating playlists for as long as I can remember. I’ve always enjoyed the challenge of seamlessly mixing genres during a set so that everyone can hear a little something of what they’re into. It actually takes a great deal of practice and is definitely harder than it looks.

What types of event are you most commonly hired for?

It’s all the big parties really – weddings, birthdays, Christmas and New Year’s Eve parties, school discos and proms. I also do a lot of corporate events too such as AGMs, conferences, product launches and office Christmas parties. Sometimes I’m hired to DJ at club and pub nights, as well as less regular events such as fashion shows and shop or gallery openings. London is a big, busy place so there’s always something going on that needs a bit of music.

Do you require a lot of technical equipment to be a DJ?

It really depends on the event. For most parties such as weddings and birthdays, I’ll have to supply pretty much everything, from my sound system (decks, speakers and PA system) to disco lights and smoke machine. However, there are many event venues, pubs and clubs who have their own speakers and lights so all I really need is my decks and laptop. I also like to use real vinyl records. So often I will talk to my customer and bring a selection of records from a genre that they’re into for that vintage touch.
