New You Personal Training

Witshire

Please see company website www.newyoupt.info for further details (incl. client Testimonials). I specialise in providing a personal training service for busy people who - work long / irregular hours - have no time or inclination to join a gym/leisure centre - want to make certain life style changes but are not sure how to i.e. have little or no experience of structured exercise I will work with you at your chosen location at a time that suits you. For example this can be at your own home, local recreational area (park etc), place of work ........ The advantages of this form of training are: - "time efficient" i.e. no packing kit, travelling, finding a parking space etc - you train in a familiar environment - 1 to 1 attention with no distractions - accountability, easy to talk yourself out of a session but with Trainer at the door .... "excuses out of the window". You will receive an exercise programme tailored to your individual goals which will also allow you to supplement the 1 to 1 sessions with training on your own. I am qualified re: exercise referral i.e. can plan/carry out specialised training for those with medical conditions such as ... high blood pressure, diabetes, osteoarthritis, back pain (non-specific)........... I also provide nutritional advice with dedicated programmes to support healthy eating and assist in effective weight management.

How do you help your clients achieve their fitness goals?

I am passionate about helping clients achieve their health and fitness goals, whatever their age and experience (my oldest client is 75 years old).
I bring over 20 years experience of motivational skills, 15 years of sports coaching and an understanding that people's requirements differ i.e. I offer training that is based on my own life experiences, meaning I am always sympathetic to a client's individual needs which allows strong relationships to be developed.
The start of the process is an initial consultation to determine your goals (short and long term) followed by an Assessment (consisting of a number of static and dynamic tests) to gauge your current level of fitness etc. (both are at no charge). This allows a bespoke programme to be constructed which is agreed and reviewed regularly.
I have trained clients with a variety of goals, including
- weight loss
- muscle toning
- improved flexibility and posture
- to reduce discomfort from muscular pain e.g. lower back, hip, knee ........

What’s the secret to getting the body of your dreams?

There is no secret, its about hard work!
My part in the process is to understand your true goals, create a structured programme around these goals whilst ensuring time lines are realistic.
Critical to this will be my ability to build progression into the programme to ensure you are challenged (safely) and motivation remains high throughout the programme.

What do you love most about your job?

Undoubtedly helping people achieve their health and fitness goals.
I enjoy the whole process, from the initial contact with a prospective client, through to designing a programme, carrying out the training, helping them through the "moments of doubt" and celebrating real progress towards their goals.

What inspired you to start your own business?

After working for a large corporate company for 20 years I decided e it was time to regain my independence and follow a career path which allows me to have a direct influence on people's well being on a one to one basis. Building good relationships to allow a goal to be achieved has always be a strength and to do this through a business that I have sole responsibility for was particularly appealing.

Why should our clients choose you?

I am well organised and structured in all that I do which will ensure programmes are appropriate, progressive and reviewed regularly. Part of this is ensuring the client understands how each individual session fits into the" bigger picture".
I will "go that extra mile" i.e. I take a client's results personally.
Previous work experience means that I am particularly able to ensure motivation levels remain high and all sessions, although tough at times, will be enjoyable !

Personal Trainers FAQs

Expand all

It depends on your end goal. If you’re training for a marathon, you might work out nearly every day of the week. If you’re a low-level beginner, a minimum of three times a week is enough to make a noticeable impact. No matter what you’re working out for, everyone needs rest and recovery days. Without them, your muscles won’t be able to recuperate and grow strong, so remember to factor in some down-time, too!

Pretty much anywhere! The great thing about personal training is that it’s flexible - as long as you have the necessary equipment, you and your instructor can decide to have your sessions from the gym, your home, the park, or even your office if you want to!

Yes! First of all, they will chat with you about your goals, and discuss the best way to achieve them. They should also ask you to fill in a consent form to check that you don’t have any pre-existing health conditions that could impact your exercise. They’ll also carry out a health assessment to get a better idea of your current fitness level, tailoring your workout plan around that.

It's tricky to say, as personal training sessions vary significantly depending on what you want to achieve and the type of workout. Generally, one personal training session tends to last forty-five minutes to one hour. It will start with a gentle warm-up, followed by the nitty-gritty of the actual workout, with stretches to end the session. Remember, warming up and stretching is essential for injury prevention - it’s just as important as the main part of the workout!

A personal trainer needs to be clued up on all aspects of fitness, from the most effective exercise techniques to nutrition and human anatomy- that’s a lot of responsibility! You need to make sure your professional is suitably qualified for the job. After all, you shouldn’t cut corners when it comes to investing in your health. Make sure your trainer has the minimum qualifications required to practice. In the UK, this is the Level 3 Personal Trainer qualification.

Absolutely! Online personal training has become increasingly popular as more people are looking to maintain their fitness during lockdowns and gyms closing. As long as you and your personal trainer have a strong internet connection and a device to stream on like a laptop, tablet or smartphone, there's no reason why your session can't be delivered remotely.
