I have always been really passionate about all things aquatic. I love the calming sense of nature that a beautiful aquarium or fish pond can bring. This is why I decided to start AquaFanatics. Ultimately bringing your passion to work everyday and doing something that you love, means that work doesn't feel like work. I really love seeing the variety of different aquariums that people have built, and enjoy helping people get the very best out of them by providing a service that is valuable and allows me to share my knowledge and experience with people.
For me, I chose to start my own business because I wanted to do something for myself. Ever since I started my MBA program almost 10 years ago I wanted to be my own boss. BUT LIFE ALWAYS GOT IN THE WAY! I had a young family at the time, and a mortgage and a great (well paid) job. So it just felt like too much of a risk!
But then I had a moment that changed everything. - I was away on business in California and I had a phone call from my partner to say that our middle child was in hospital. I felt so helpless! I was so focussed on providing the lifestyle for my family and the kudos of the "Job Title", that I was actually missing out on the most important part of the whole thing - being a DAD!
Years on, and I now have the balance right. I run a successful business, bringing the joy of aquariums, exotic fish to homes, gardens, local businesses, care settings and schools. I'm challenged everyday, and the variety of support I can offer makes everyday an adventure. But most importantly my work/life balance is spot on.
After all. That's why we all start on this path, isn't it?
I have no doubt that there are many other companies working within this space in East Anglia. But for me there wasn't a service that put the needs of the client 1st. This is where AquaFanatics is different.

Allan arrived on time. Brought all the necessary equipment and managed to completely clean both the pond and the machinery in under two hours. He was polite and just got on with the job in hand. I will certainly recommend him to anyone.
