John is an excellent personal trainer. I spent a week end with him as my personal trainer and he managed to get the best from me with his patience and encouragement. He has a wide knowledge of all aspects of fitness and exercise & he offers advice and guidance on same. His attention to detail is excellent, he is approachable and caring and I can not recommend him highly enough as a PT. I was sent home with a timetable of exercise which fits in with my lifestyle, which John had established throught taking with me and listening. Thank you John.
With over 9 years experience in physical preparation around the world, I am a high level fitness coach experienced at assisting people achieve their goals, maximising performance, and ultimately becoming a better version of themselves. I have previously worked with Olympic athletes in China, and in International football, and I currently work with general population clients at one of the world biggest companies based out of London. I am not your bog standard personal trainer, I am educated to postgraduate level, and have extensive history of professional development so working with me, you will receive training that works, but also a coach that wants you to succeed and achieve your goals. With that I will also offer a free consultation to assess where you are and how I can assist you and also run you through a quick movement screen to assess what movement dysfunctions you may have.
Utilising a strength-based interview approach, I figure out what you CAN do, what's standing in your way, and together WE figure out the ideal options for you. Be it habits that are causing negative behaviours, constraints around work or home life, nutritional issues, or just not knowing where to start, together we can find what is going to work for you and keep you consistent.
Consistency, and hard-work. This is the boring answer unfortunately, but great things take time. The hard part is often avoiding those roadblocks (injury, boredom, challenge etc.), but together we can solve these problems and achieve your goals.
Connecting with people from different walks of life. Having lived overseas for a number of years, I just really really love meeting new people, having and impact, and changing lives.
The opportunity to impact more peoples lives than just those I meet in my day-to-day job.
If you choose me, you get a highly dedicated coach who is experienced, knowledgable, understanding and most importantly, results driven. On top of that, when you finish working with me, not only will you have achieved your goals, but you should be able to train yourself and continue to push towards whatever targets or goals you have.
I am working from home at present, so online or remote training works great for me!
Should I work out every day of the week?
It depends on your end goal. If you’re training for a marathon, you might work out nearly every day of the week. If you’re a low-level beginner, a minimum of three times a week is enough to make a noticeable impact. No matter what you’re working out for, everyone needs rest and recovery days. Without them, your muscles won’t be able to recuperate and grow strong, so remember to factor in some down-time, too!
Where can I have my personal training sessions?
Pretty much anywhere! The great thing about personal training is that it’s flexible - as long as you have the necessary equipment, you and your instructor can decide to have your sessions from the gym, your home, the park, or even your office if you want to!
Does my fitness instructor need to know anything about me?
Yes! First of all, they will chat with you about your goals, and discuss the best way to achieve them. They should also ask you to fill in a consent form to check that you don’t have any pre-existing health conditions that could impact your exercise. They’ll also carry out a health assessment to get a better idea of your current fitness level, tailoring your workout plan around that.
What does a standard personal training session involve?
It's tricky to say, as personal training sessions vary significantly depending on what you want to achieve and the type of workout. Generally, one personal training session tends to last forty-five minutes to one hour. It will start with a gentle warm-up, followed by the nitty-gritty of the actual workout, with stretches to end the session. Remember, warming up and stretching is essential for injury prevention - it’s just as important as the main part of the workout!
What qualifications should a personal trainer have?
A personal trainer needs to be clued up on all aspects of fitness, from the most effective exercise techniques to nutrition and human anatomy- that’s a lot of responsibility! You need to make sure your professional is suitably qualified for the job. After all, you shouldn’t cut corners when it comes to investing in your health. Make sure your trainer has the minimum qualifications required to practice. In the UK, this is the Level 3 Personal Trainer qualification.
Can I get a Personal Trainer online?
Absolutely! Online personal training has become increasingly popular as more people are looking to maintain their fitness during lockdowns and gyms closing. As long as you and your personal trainer have a strong internet connection and a device to stream on like a laptop, tablet or smartphone, there's no reason why your session can't be delivered remotely.
