Hiring the best trainer is an investment in your long-term health. A local coach can meet you in Abbotsham to teach you movement mechanics that prevent injuries for years to come.
Don't be afraid to ask about a professional's background. A best-in-class trainer must have at least a Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training from a CIMSPA-approved provider.

I’ve been a full time personal trainer since 2009, and I have a wealth of experience working with clients that want to get the balance between enjoying life, and looking and feeling better. I specialise in home based training, and love seeing people change! There’s no hiding from the fact that as we get older it becomes harder and harder to shift excess weight, something I’ve found myself having recently entered my fourth decade on earth! But, it can be done. Personal training is certainly the fastest way to achieve it. The very nature of personal training means it is developed around you and your goals. As you develop then the training will evolve to meet your new level. I can give you help with the following: Fat/weight loss Leaner body (look better, more "toned") Fitter (less out of breath doing simple tasks) Health and vitality Energy levels Inch loss by dropping body fat (so you look better naked!) Health - diabetes management, heart health, joint strength. I run my personal training either as home based, meaning I come to you with the kit, or from a great venue in Stratford called Healthworks Fitness Studio. It’s a light and airy space, with lots of natural light, a through-flow of fresh air, all the equipment we possibly need and also a separate outdoor area should you wish to train outdoors. But you don't need a gym to get great results, it's personal preference based on where you feel the most comfortable. I appreciate it’s hard to get a feel for a service via the internet, so all prospective clients are entitled to a free 30 minute trial session, this way you get to see how the sessions would work for you, and we get to meet each other and see whether we would get on ok. It doesn’t matter what age you are, or whether you’ve trained before or not, the programme will meet you where you are now and progress as you get fitter. If in doubt, get in touch, but honestly stop putting it off! Once you get started you’ll wonder why you didn’t do it sooner. Still not sure if you need a trainer? Then head to my website and enjoy the many free articles I've written that will get you started whilst you consider your options.
Well everyone is different so there isn't a standardised approach, but to give you an idea it would be as follows:
- initial consultation to find out exactly what it is you're trying to achieve and set some targets for us to work towards
- session one we spend some time taking measurements with a tape measure and use body fat calipers to work out your current body fat % - this acts as baseline so we can see the changes you've made when we retest
- I get you to track your food & drink intake for a week so i can where you're at with your food choices
- I show you the quick and easy way of tracking your daily food intake so you stay at the right level for weight & fat loss
- exercise! We spend 1/2/3 sessions (hour each) together each week and work through a personalised workout I devise based around what you want to achieve. I provide all the kit, all you need is water
- I help you identify simple ways you can increase your total weekly energy expenditure by moving more outside of our sessions together
- if you have a good level of self motivation then I can make up a 15-20 minute workout plan for you to follow in between our sessions.
From here it's then just a case of measuring what's working, and what's not, and making tweaks and adjustments until we get the balance right.
There is no secret or hidden 'magic' pill. Consistency is key, with food and exercise. I teach all of my clients how to get this balance right so they still enjoy life without restrictions whilst getting great results.
Working with a great bunch of clients, and seeing people change and hit their goals - perhaps a bit cliche but true.
Several reasons, I wanted to be in control of when I work (I have a Golden Retriever so I want to be home for him) and who I work with, plus I love helping others improve their health, and realise you can be healthy and enjoy life!
This is a good question, your clients should choose the coach they get on with most. I build great working relationships with my clients, I understand very quickly where they're at and the tools they need to grow. I also track the progress of my clients so I can see what's working and what isn't, and make adjustments as we go to keep you on track.
Yes, sessions are available via Zoom, either completely online or as a hybrid of online and face to face at the gym.
All of us are more aware of regular hand washing, and staying away from others if you feel unwell (which you should be doing anyway irrelevant of covid).
The gym have several doors they open to allow fresh air to blow through the gym, it rarely gets too crowded in there, plus there is a dedicated outdoor area where we can train outside.
My own equipment gets cleaned between clients, it always has been, but more so after the last few years.
