Dan really knows his stuff when it comes to running. Another reviewer on here said that what Dan doesn’t know about running and biomechanics isn’t worth knowing, and that he’s one of the best personal trainers around – I couldn’t agree more.
I started training with Dan in March 2016, when I could barely run a mile, yet he’s somehow turned me into a runner. In the time he’s been training me, he’s helped me to achieve running goals I never thought I could meet, and he’s done so with unfailing enthusiasm, encouragement and positivity. My running form, technique, fitness levels and confidence have massively improved, and I’ve remained injury-free through all the time I’ve been training with him. Not only is Dan incredibly knowledgeable about running, he’s also a genuinely lovely guy and a pleasure to work with. I can’t recommend him highly enough.

Ever heard of Nordic Walking? Nordic Walking is a fast growing activity, for all ages and fitness levels to gain fitness, lose weight and improve your health. Unlike when walking, Nordic Walking poles are planted behind you in order to propel you along. This engages the upper body and makes you feel lighter on your feet. It means you use 90% of your major muscles, burn 30% extra calories and it takes the pressure off your knees and joints and is great for back and neck problems.

One of the biggest benefits of hiring a local personal trainer is accountability. Whether you hire a female personal trainer for relatability or have a bodybuilding expert visit you at home in Buxton, you are paying for professional results.
A reputable local trainer should hold at least a Level 3 Diploma. If you are seeking a specialist for bodybuilding competitions, check for additional certificates and ask to meet them to discuss your goals.
A cheap alternative to 1-2-1 training is small group training. By splitting the session fee with friends, you get expert attention for a fraction of the price.

Specialist Personal Trainer in running biomechanics and endurance training. Whether you’re a complete beginner, keen to get fitter without injury; or an experienced runner, but curious to see if you can push your limits further. I offer outdoor training around all the nicest areas of Buxton and Macclesfield. Affordable, small group and 1-1 personal training for ambitious runners of ANY ability! You don't need to be fast to join, but if you're serious about improving as a runner, I offer a high volume of training at great value for money!
Firstly, I try to teach how to make training enjoyable. Sometimes, training needs to be hard, but ALWAYS, it needs to be fun.
Once a client learns how to have a laugh and a good time whilst training hard, there's no such thing as "exercise" anymore. Only play.
There is no secret, unfortunately. It takes the DISCIPLINE to mentally sign up to the programme ahead, and it takes CONSISTENCY to stick with it; even if we fall off the wagon once in a while. With effective coaching and guidance, good habits will feel a little easier to maintain, and as the weeks turn to months and the months eventually years with constant progress, most people would be surprised what their body can do!
I work outdoors, in some of the nicest areas the Peak District has to offer.
Before I officially started as a business, I ran my website (danmayers.co.uk) as a non monetised blog to all of my running adventures for local charity. I did a lot of solo running with wild-camping all over the UK, including a run from Lands End to John O'Groats, which was a particular highlight for my otherwise low self-esteem.
The result of this particular adventure, in addition to raising over £4k for charity, was many of my family and friends taking up running for the first time, which gave me fuel for thought...
Then, in 2014, I finally found the confidence to walk out of a debilitating, dead-end job to pursue a new, scary career in the self-employed fitness industry, in the hope that I can help others, like myself.
Many probably shouldn't. It depends on their needs; how they like to train; their personality, and too many other things to mention.
I know a lot of really, very, very good PT's that wouldn't get as much from my clients as I have, and vise-versa. That's the beauty of this industry, but also why folks should choose a Personal Trainer carefully, and not just arbitrarily in a random gym.
Furthermore, if during a consultation over the phone, I realize I know another PT or coach who might be perfect for how they're wanting to train, I will always mention it, and offer to refer them if they like. This job is a privilege, and I refuse to do it selfishly. But other than that, yeah, choose me, I'm awesome! ;)
