How do you help your clients achieve their fitness goals?

Firstly, I try to teach how to make training enjoyable. Sometimes, training needs to be hard, but ALWAYS, it needs to be fun.

Once a client learns how to have a laugh and a good time whilst training hard, there's no such thing as "exercise" anymore. Only play.

What’s the secret to getting the body of your dreams?

There is no secret, unfortunately. It takes the DISCIPLINE to mentally sign up to the programme ahead, and it takes CONSISTENCY to stick with it; even if we fall off the wagon once in a while. With effective coaching and guidance, good habits will feel a little easier to maintain, and as the weeks turn to months and the months eventually years with constant progress, most people would be surprised what their body can do!

What do you love most about your job?

I work outdoors, in some of the nicest areas the Peak District has to offer.

What inspired you to start your own business?

Before I officially started as a business, I ran my website (danmayers.co.uk) as a non monetised blog to all of my running adventures for local charity. I did a lot of solo running with wild-camping all over the UK, including a run from Lands End to John O'Groats, which was a particular highlight for my otherwise low self-esteem.

The result of this particular adventure, in addition to raising over £4k for charity, was many of my family and friends taking up running for the first time, which gave me fuel for thought...

Then, in 2014, I finally found the confidence to walk out of a debilitating, dead-end job to pursue a new, scary career in the self-employed fitness industry, in the hope that I can help others, like myself.

Why should our clients choose you?

Many probably shouldn't. It depends on their needs; how they like to train; their personality, and too many other things to mention.

I know a lot of really, very, very good PT's that wouldn't get as much from my clients as I have, and vise-versa. That's the beauty of this industry, but also why folks should choose a Personal Trainer carefully, and not just arbitrarily in a random gym.

Furthermore, if during a consultation over the phone, I realize I know another PT or coach who might be perfect for how they're wanting to train, I will always mention it, and offer to refer them if they like. This job is a privilege, and I refuse to do it selfishly. But other than that, yeah, choose me, I'm awesome! ;)
