‘20 Certificate of Excellence

As a nutritional therapist my role is to work with you to reach your wellness goal(s). This is achieved by taking the time to thoroughly discuss your past health history and current symptoms, to learn about your past and current eating patterns, to hear about your past and current activity levels, and to discover what you have been exposed to emotionally, physically and environmentally. This helps me to understand which habits, foods, activities and substances (i.e. medications, chemicals, etc) may be contributing to your current state of health. Rather than treating the (diagnosed) 'condition', I use a functional medicine approach to look at every client as an individual - no illness occurs for the same reason(s) - everyone has different factors/triggers that cause their condition. It is my role to help determine what is at the root of your poor health. I guess you could say, I am a 'health detective', helping to uncover the mystery of your illness,,, and then offer solutions to provide you with vibrant, optimal health. I can help you understand what has taken place in your body and what might heal your body and mind. I can help you understand which foods will specifically aid your symptoms and be suited to your genotype. I can help you learn where there may be deficiencies, and which foods or supplements can bolster levels of these nutrients. I am here to support you to make positive dietary and lifestyle changes and motivate you to stick to these health enhancing habits. I can provide you with delicious recipes and useful tips so that you love your new healthy 'life-giving' regime! If desired, together we can also devise your very own weekly meal plan encompassing all the specific foods that would benefit your symptoms/condition. I can tailor my support to suit your character, work demands and lifestyle - just let me know what you need and what you feel might be most effective for you.

How important is a healthy diet to someone’s health and wellbeing?

Every morsel we put in our mouth has the ability to 'switch on' a health enhancing gene or 'silence' a gene whose expression could be detrimental to our health. Not only that, as Hippocrates sagely stated 'Food is thy medicine'. 'Real', i.e. natural, fresh, unadulterated food, is comprised of carbohydrates, protein, fats, vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients, enzymes, water and fibre - all of which help to build every cell, ensure the effective operation of every cell and bring about healing & repair in every cell. Foods are our essential fuel, building blocks and medicine. Consuming processed factory made 'foods' stripped of all essential nutrients, however seemingly mood-enhancing they may be, are not the answer to a fully functioning body. You could compare the human body to a car - put in the appropriate gasoline and the car will run smoothly and potentially last a life time. Put in the wrong gasoline, and the engine will inevitably suffer, and the car is destined to break down.

What do you love most about your job?

The thing I love most about my job, is the feeling of connection and transformation. People are wonderful, interesting human beings, with unique complexities that fascinate me. There is a story behind everyone's illness or symptoms, and I love to hear each and every one, as I love to read each book on my shelf. My career allows me to experience a range of satisfying emotions - joy, empathy, surprise, pride and compassion. Every client deepens my understanding of how our thoughts, our beliefs, our words, our life experiences, our foods, our movement, the people we surround ourselves with,...everything... has the potential to harmonise and heal our mind and body or imbalance and dysregulate our mind and body. And there is nothing more heartwarming to see a client empowered and motivated to bring about changes for the better. I love to see a positive progression unfold, to a point where healthy eating is just a way of life, needing little effort or thought. This pathway always leads to sustained weight loss, renewed youthful energy and peace of mind.

What inspired you to start your own business?

A desire to help people be healthy and happy - there is nothing more challenging, disheartening and exhausting than living with chronic illness. I wanted to show people that our bodies are programmed to heal naturally, we just need to give ourselves the right tools for repair.

Why should our clients choose you?

Because I truly care, and I help my clients to care too. When we love ourselves we take measures to ensure we are given the best - the right foods, exercise, friends, and activities.

I've suffered from the conditions that I specialise in, and helped many people since graduating, so I am knowledgable about what works and what doesn't. I have great empathy for my clients, because I know how it feels emotionally and physically to be unwell. I dedicate 100% to all my clients because they have found the strength and courage to invest in their health, so they deserve to see results and feel as positive and energised as possible.

We all want the energy and drive to live life to its fullest and enjoy its richness - I am here to show my clients how to obtain that.

Your specialist will be able to advise you on the full range of services available and will be able to help you select the best treatment for your needs. They will also be able to answer any questions you may have. Use Bark to get free quotes and find a specialist today.

Dietitians are the only health professionals regulated and protected by law. Registered Nutritionists can provide evidence-based advice and information about food and healthy eating. Nutritional therapists provide alternative treatment, based on the idea that the body needs 'healing' and 'correcting'.

  • Credentials - Find a specialist that has the credentials to support your personal needs.

  • Experience - Ask how long your Dietitian or Nutritionist has been practising and look up their background.

  • Gimmicks - Check your specialist is not supporting an unsuitable diet brand or supplement.

  • Right fit - Make sure they are upfront in the areas they specialise in and are able to make referrals if your needs are outside their comfort zone.

The minimum requirement for a Dietitian is a degree in Dietetics or a related science degree with a postgraduate diploma or higher degree in Dietetics. Nutritionists should have attended a course which is accredited by the Association for Nutrition (AfN).

Before you choose either a Nutritionist or a Dietitian, you could read testimonials and read reviews on their website. You could also look at their profile page on Bark and read reviews from past customers too.
