The Beeston Coach

If you’ve always wanted to make the most of your career options or if you desire to pursue something different and exciting but you’re unsure, consulting a professional can reap rewards. I’m Brian and I specialise in coaching people through career transitions and to make the career move they have always dreamed of. I am passionate about coaching and believe that I can help people achieve amazing things! I help people of all ages, from university graduates looking at future work options to those planning their retirement and life beyond work and how to get there. I am a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD). With over 20 years of experience of working in HR and training within the voluntary, public and private sector, I have a wealth of professional experience of the world of work on top of my coaching skills. Not every career track is smooth and I work with my clients to better understand the world of work and how they can navigate their way through career changes. As we are all unique in our own way, I also provide a DISC profile. This is a psychometric profile that offers a better understanding of core strengths and how to use them. Through this insight, we can determine what motivates you, what type of work environment you favour, your communication patterns, and we also uncover any fears and insecurity. Then we focus on your skills, how to amplify them as well as work towards overcoming your internal blocks and doubts. Triggering self-confidence is a key aspect of my approach. I love what I do and I like helping others find their purpose and fulfil their career aspirations. I will be entirely focused on your goals and will encourage you to gain clarity and work on the next steps to meet your goals. I offer a friendly ear and a supportive and safe environment. I also make myself available outside of the formal coaching sessions to support you further especially when you get stuck or simply need feedback on something that you are working on. I also offer feedback on your CV and covering letter, and help you refine it so it highlights your strengths and positions you as a better candidate. Additionally, I also nudge you towards resources that will give your career a boost. To get the ball rolling and to see if I am the right coach for you, I offer a free introductory no-obligation consultation. This will enable us to get to know each other.

What do you love most about your job?

I love being able to make a difference to others! People who seek coaching are looking for support with an aspect of their lives which is unsatisfactory. Coaching is different from therapy or counselling in that it focuses on the future, and my role as a coach is to help my clients articulate what they want in the future and to take practical steps in order to get there. Working alongside people to help them take steps towards their goal is enormously satisfying.

What inspired you to start your own business?

My background is in learning and development, which includes coaching. I trained with The Coaching Academy, the UK's largest coach training organisation and completed my training in 2017. I started the Beeston Coach in 2019 after leaving my job as I wanted to focus on working with individuals undergoing change.

Why should our clients choose you?

Choosing the right coach can be hard. It is a very personal choice. For that reason, I always offer a 30-minute introductory conversation for free, after which time it is up to you if you think I am the right person to work with you. As part of my coaching, I can provide you with a DISC profile, a simply psychometric report which helps you understand what motivates you, how you communicate with and understand others and your preferred working environment. I like using DISC as it is simple to understand yet can be a powerful tool to understand yourself and to help you set goals that are right for you.
