‘20 Certificate of Excellence

I’m Brian and I am a qualified coach who specialises in supporting people who are feeling lost, overwhelmed by change or stuck in their careers. I specialise in working with people who are looking to make changes in their working lives. With over 20 years of experience working in HR and training, I have a wealth of professional experience on top of my coaching skills. I love helping others find their purpose and fulfil their career aspirations. My approach is different from traditional careers advice. I focus on helping you to recognise your strengths and to tune into the inner voice that has guided you through life. I use a methodology that will give you the tools required to work out a plan for your future, be motivated to stick to it and overcome beliefs that hold you back. This methodology was used to coach four women to row the Pacific Ocean- you can see their inspiring story in the short video below. We all have our own 'Pacific Ocean' challenges to deal with. To help you identify and deal with yours I offer a free, no-obligation, ‘discovery call’ that gives you the experience of being coached by me. The people I have worked with say that this has given them clarity, insight and a fresh perspective on what is holding them back. If you want to take the next steps and commit to coaching with me, then I'd love to work with you. The first low-risk step is to get in touch. I look forward to hearing from you.

What do you love most about your job?

I love being able to make a difference to others! People who seek coaching are looking for support with an aspect of their lives that is unsatisfactory. Coaching is different from therapy or counselling in that it focuses on the future, and my role as a coach is to help my clients articulate what they want in the future and to take practical steps to get there. Working alongside people to help them take steps towards their goal and seeing the changes that they have made as a result is enormously satisfying.

What inspired you to start your own business?

My background is in HR and learning and development. I have learned a lot from the inspiring coaches and trainers that I have worked with. I trained with The Coaching Academy, the UK's largest coach training organisation and completed my training in 2017. I started the Beeston Coach in 2019. I have developed my skills as a coach by constantly challenging myself. I bring my experience of work to my coaching, which helps the people I work with to gain insight into their situation and take steps to create a better future for themselves.

Why should our clients choose you?

Choosing the right coach can be difficult. It is a very personal choice. I always offer a free 'discovery' call which gives you the experience of being coached by me. At the start of the coaching process, I offer a DISC profile, a simple psychometric report that is simple to understand yet provides insight into your personality at work. The methodology I use helps you develop a challenging but realistic plan for your future. Please look at the feedback from people I have worked with to see how effective this approach has been for them.

Once your plan is in place, I can provide a software package, 'The Curve', that you can use to track and monitor your progress over the next year. This, along with regular 'check-ins' will hold you to account and improve your chances of success. I am one of only a handful of coaches in the UK who can offer this service.

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

My preferred way of coaching is through Zoom, although for people who live locally it is always nicer to meet face-to-face! I am flexible in using other systems, including coaching over the phone. My clients live across the whole of the UK, although many people I work with come from outside the UK.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

Covid has presented many challenges for society, but it has also created opportunities. My approach is to help people to identify opportunities where they may not see any. Not every cloud has a silver lining but recognising the ones that do is a skill that can be developed!

Life Coaching FAQs

Your professional life coach will be able to advise you on the full range of coaching available and will be able to help you select the best one to suit your needs. They will also be able to answer any questions you may have. Use Bark to get free quotes and find a trusted life coach today.

You can have as many or as few life coaching sessions as you like. Many life coaches operate over the phone or via the internet so the sessions can easily fit around your schedule. Some people hire a life coach once every few months, some people have a session once a week.

Life coaching sessions will typically last up to an hour. Often after an initial assessment, sessions can be conducted over the phone, face to face, over email, via Skype/Zoom and occasionally through instant messaging.

During the session, your life coach will ask you a number of questions, such as what you want to achieve in life, what areas you're unhappy with and where you'd like to see yourself in the future. Although a life coach will work with you, it’s often up to you to challenge or reflect upon certain ideas you have to help you move forward with your life. You will never be forced to make any decisions you don't feel comfortable with and all sessions will be confidential.

Life coaching is focused on your present and your future. Coaching accepts your current reality and looks to improve your outcome moving forward. Life coaches are not health professionals and they do not diagnose you. By contrast, therapy focuses on your past and looks to delve into past actions and patterns. It is analytical but not action-oriented.

Most mainstream health insurance providers do not cover the costs of life coaching because it is not considered a mental health profession in the same way therapists and counsellors are.

Life coaches do not need to have any formal or academic qualifications but you may want to look for life coaches who possess an industry-specific qualification, such as the Life Coaching Diploma or Personal Performance Diploma (PPD).

You may also want to ask for testimonials of their recent work. You could also look at their profile page on Bark, which shows you reviews from past customers who have used their life coaching services.

A life coach is a trained professional who aims to help and guide individuals to make, meet and exceed personal and professional goals. They support clients on a journey to rediscover their own strength and abilities. This can include excelling in the workplace, becoming happy and fulfilled at home, exploring your potential, managing health conditions and achieving life ambitions.

By harnessing techniques based on core psychological principles and intuition, life coaches empower clients and provide a toolkit of teachings to confidently face difficult challenges and overcome emotional barriers.

Life coaches can specialise in one of these particular areas of coaching: career coaching, executive business, group coaching, health and wellbeing, performance management, personal development, relationships, retirement, spiritual and youth coaching.

Rapport is one of the most important parts of life coaching. If you feel uncomfortable with your professional, you are unlikely to gain much from the session. It is advisable to get in contact before you book a session to meet your life coach so you can gauge how comfortable you are in their presence. It is worth talking to a few potential life coaches and ask questions.

Yes! As long as you have a strong internet connection, then your life coach can deliver sessions via an online video chat platform. Alternatively, it can be done over the phone.
