I didn't know what to expect, this was the first time I saw someone to get on top of my anxiety & depression. I wasn't sure if over 10 years on medication things could change.
From the first contact, Bianca made me feel so at ease and was so supportive. After 6 sessions I noticed a massive change in how I was handling things, and by 10 sessions I felt confident that I knew what was causing me problems and felt equipped with strategies to manage my emotions.
I can't recommend her enough. She has changed my life, for the better!

I would highly reccomend Kerry, she has helped us through a really tough time.
Kerry is all the things you'd expect from a great counsellor - an excellent listener, non judgemental, kind and compassionate. She has challenged our way of thinking and given us the skills to deal with particular things in a much better way, something that has proved to be invaluable.
Thank you Kerry!

I have been a counsellor in Exeter for over seven years now, having completed an Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling. I've spent most of that time working as a volunteer counsellor for the NHS within their Depression & Anxiety Service. As such, I specialise in working with depression, anxiety and stress. That said, in my experience, whilst depression and anxiety are common, the reasons why people feel this way can be extremely varied and so I've worked with many different people with many different presenting problems.

Everyone needs to feel they can connect to their councellor otherwise it won’t work, doesn’t matter how hard you try. When I messsged Sue & we exchanged a few emails & I told her my worries etc, she was very very understansing, caring, she didn’t treat me as a client who shouldn’t be bothered with, she listened to me, she was honest, genuine & very accommodating to my physical needs. I felt after a while of talking that there was a connection, which is the most important thing in a therapeutic relationship & with the help of Sues’ help & her caring & gentle attitude & personality, I made the massive step to start councelling with her, which is a massive step for me but Sue made it possible & made it so much easier & although I am still very anxious, I feel less anxious now. So if you’re looking for a councellor, I would recommend emailing or phoning Sue & having a chat & I am sure you will feel listened & understood just like I did. So I 100% reccomend Sue. A +++

5 Star Review "I took my teenage daughter to Martin due to emotional difficulties in the hope that he could help her as her behaviour was affecting the rest of the family , her own mental well being and attitude to school. We had weekly sessions for about 7 weeks and during that time she was taught how to overcome her anxieties and use tools to dispel negative thoughts. Martin was patient, funny and kind but also very honest and kitty responded very well.

I couldn’t fault Martin and his work and techniques! His many years of experience definitely shone through and he made me feel very comfortable and at ease when opening up about past trauma and he was very friendly, non- judgemental, kind and funny as well as being professional and straight to the point (which is what I definitely needed.) I truly believe that finding Martin in May was meant to be and I feel in a much better place now because of our work we did together! I will miss our weekly catchups and I recommend him to anyone who needs to feel like the sunshine that they once used to feel!

I provide client-focused counselling with a psycho-spiritual orientation. I work with a full range of client issues from those that constellate around crisis to those that represent an awakening, particularly since frequently these events are interrelated. A personal crisis may signal that someone is “standing on the threshold” between a habitual way of being, and a new way forward.

How much do Therapists cost?
This will vary according to the level of experience and training that the therapist holds.
This will depend on where you live, what level of training your therapist has and what they specialise in (whether they are a counsellor, psychotherapist or psychologist) and also how many years of working experience they have.
Your professional therapist will be able to advise you on the full range of therapies available and will be able to help you select the best one to suit your needs. They will also be able to answer any questions you may have. Use Bark to get free quotes and find a trusted therapist today.
How do I find the right Therapist?
You need to devote some time to finding the right therapist as the connection you have with your therapist is essential. You need someone who you can trust, someone you feel comfortable talking to about difficult subjects and intimate secrets, someone who will be a partner in your recovery. Therapy will not be effective unless you have this bond, so take some time in the beginning to find the right person.
It is worth talking to a few potential therapists and asking questions. Therapists also have special areas of focus, such as depression or eating disorders. For some issues, such as trauma or PTSD, seeing a specialist is absolutely essential.
How many sessions of Therapy will I need?
Everyone’s treatment is different. How long your therapy lasts depends on many factors.
You may be offered a single session of counselling, a short course of sessions over a few weeks or months or a longer course that lasts for several months or years.
It can take a number of sessions before you start to see progress but you should gradually start to feel better with the help and support of your trusted Bark therapist.
What should I look for in a Therapist?
Professional counsellor training takes three to five years and can be a diploma or degree level. Qualification requires a minimum number of client hours acquired through a work placement.
You may also want to ask for testimonials of their recent work. You could also look at their profile page on Bark and Bark can show you reviews from past customers who have used their therapy.
What are the benefits of Therapy?
Therapy has repeatedly and consistently helped patients with a whole host of issues. It can help with mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety or an eating disorder. Or it can help with an upsetting physical health condition such as infertility, a difficult life event such as a bereavement or a relationship breakdown. It can also be used to tackle difficult emotions such as low self-esteem, anger or sexual identity issues. Therapists also offer couples therapy. Therapists can also help with anxiety issues deriving from the coronavirus.
Can I get a Therapist online?
Absolutely! Many therapists offer sessions over the phone or through an online video chat platform, so you can have a session from the comfort of your own home - all you need is a strong internet connection and you're good to go.
