What do you love most about your job?

Empowering people to be their very best version of self.

What inspired you to start your own business?

The word “Betwixt” means 'in the middle' or 'the space between'. Therapeutic work occurs in that 'space between' the therapist and the client. Helping others to figure out who they are and where they fit in the world brings me so much joy and purpose.

I also wanted to offer a 'middle path' alternative to the extremes of rigid curriculum teaching, results-driven personal development and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy style counselling. Instead, I wanted to offer the same positive results with more emphasis on personal growth and support to achieve success in the way that best suits the needs of the individual. One size does not fit all!

Why should our clients choose you?

I have over 25 years experience in teaching and nearly 15 years experience of coaching and mentoring. As a psychological therapist, I understand the unique experiences of those with ASC and ADHD, due to my own lived experience with AuDHD. I also have specialist experience with those who struggle with identity - whether through the lens of neurodivergence, being LGBTQ+ or childhood trauma that has prevented understanding of self (sometimes called individuation or self-realisation). As a coach, I work in a way that is shame and trauma informed - whilst still ensuring you get to develop into the best version of yourself. I specialise in stress, anxiety, trauma, identity, shame, relationships and loss.
I have taught from early years right up to undergraduate degree level and have a solid track record of achieving excellent academic results whilst also boosting learner morale and confidence in their own abilities. I take a holistic view of my work - meaning that all my work is trauma informed - whether you are seeking academic success, a sense of identity or progress from maladaptive patterns of behaviour.

In education, we learn through our favourite topics - curriculum goals can be achieved through innovative and exciting ways - it doesn't have to be dull or painful! I have over 15 years experience of working specifically with EOTAS and SEND children and can provide one-off bespoke educational assessment reports to be used in EHCP planning and for securing reasonable adjustments in school.

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

I offer Nationwide online psychological therapy, coaching/mentoring and specialist education via GoogleMeet (or MS Teams if preferred) as well as in-person therapy/counselling, coaching/mentoring and education and training from my city centre office in Exeter, Devon. Some children with SEND or mental health complexities cannot manage face-to-face meetings and so online mentoring, coaching and tuition can offer a 'safe space' for those children for whom leaving the house is problematic.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

When working online, I am ensuring the safety of my clients at all times, without exception. Any hard-copy resources, like textbooks, are sent directly from source (i.e. publisher or bookstore) to the client's home address, ensuring limited contact of materials. Face to Face work is conducted in spaces that can be disinfected and ventilated to reduce transmission, including the great outdoors and which follow extensive covid-19 prevention strategies.
