‘21 Certificate of Excellence

I have been a teacher for 40 + years, and enjoy teaching Maths and English. I have had experience in teaching children from years 1 to 12. I spent the first 16 years of my career in the primary system and then moved to High School where I spent the next 27 years teaching Maths and English to years 8 - 10. My experiences in Years 8-10 really highlighted the gaps that were appearing in what was missed or not re-inforced enough in the later primary years, thus I focus on the basics of both Maths and English....in other words, I make sure the kids understand the PROCESS and focus on that. If they understand and follow "process" then the rest will follow. In other words, "Look after the cents and the dollars take care of themselves." Thus I work mainly with Years 5 & 6 to ensure the basics are consolidated, thus laying a firm foundation. So if you have a child in years 5 or 6, and you would like them to consolidate the basics of Maths and English, then I can help you. My philosophy....as written on the back of my business card is...... ......"I will not guarantee a massive hike in academic results but I will guarantee a huge lift in confidence and self-belief..... which, in itself, generates improvement and a love of learning." I am available during the day, after school, and on weekends.

What do you love most about your job?

Kids up to the age of 10-11 have a naivety and innocence about them that they , if they had the opportunity, would spend all their time playing and having fun. It really doesn't matter what age we are, if we are having fun then we are learning. The more fun they have then the more they are learning. My bottom line philosophy is "Life is supposed to be fun" so my tutoring sessions are a lot of fun. Funnily enough, the kids seem to be enjoying learning more and producing better outcomes!!!???

What inspired you to start your own business?

Every teacher has those "Ah - ha" moments in their teaching careers where their students suddenly "Get it!!!" The smile on the face and the look in their eyes is priceless....and the feeling a teacher gets at that moment is something we treasure and remember. Why wouldn't I want to look for more of those moments??

Why should our clients choose you?

Don't believe me. Read what some of my kids' parents are saying and believe them.

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

Anything is possible but, for anything to be successful involving 2 or more participants then time must be spent building a good relationship. This is very difficult online.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

Ensuring they are aware of what their responsibilities are to themselves and their families .
