I am currently a paralegal working in the shipping sector. I am educated to Masters level and have been fortunate to experience different teaching styles which has very much shaped my own teaching style. I am a great believer that education builds a child's confidence and can bring out the best in them. I am encouraging and provide praise to encourage and reassure each child I tutor.

I am currently tutoring my godson who had been struggling with maths and English. I was particularly inspired to help tutor other children when he said that I had made concepts easy for him to understand; he was so happy after our first session and so willing to learn more. I thought a lot about this experience and decided to help him more, researching the areas of maths he was struggling with and finding suitable resources online for us to complete together. I researched the KS2 curriculum to be able to create relevant English and Maths resources. We have used these throughout and I have seen such an improvement in his ability, confidence and he can now describe English punctuation, grammatical and sentence concepts freely and explain his reasoning with answers he gives as well as grasping long division, decimals and fractions which were the main areas he most wanted to work on. I am currently preparing him for what would have been his SATs and since going back to school after lockdown he has made huge improvements in his maths and English. I have access to his school's curriculum so I am able to work ahead of his current teaching so that when his teacher does present the work to him, he already has knowledge and understanding which he has said has been helpful to him.

My teaching style would be to first ascertain what you and your child are looking to get out of my tutoring, if you would like me to work on specific areas or would prefer tutoring around your child's current curriculum level. I can also help to fill any gaps which may have been missed over the last year due to lockdown. I can also assist with the general day to day work which is set by your child's teachers. Once I have ascertained what you and your child would be looking for, I would then prepare lessons for your child based upon these answers.

I like my lessons to be interactive, so I use a digital pad which I write onto for your child to see. This keeps the lessons fun and keeps your child engaged during the lesson.
