Not only in our exercise history, but also likes and dislikes, time management, old injuries, mindset and so on. That experience has enabled me to tailor the best possible workout programme for you and your goals. My areas of expertise are in:

Working with Zara has been great. First of all she helped me take baby steps to get back some level of fitness and range of movement after two hip replacements. Then she's gone on to help me with weight loss and more demanding fitness goals. All of this through Zoom. All of it enjoyable and motivating.

One of the biggest benefits of hiring a local personal trainer is accountability. Whether you hire a female personal trainer for relatability or have a bodybuilding expert visit you at home in Sidmouth, you are paying for professional results.
A reputable local trainer should hold at least a Level 3 Diploma. If you are seeking a specialist for bodybuilding competitions, check for additional certificates and ask to meet them to discuss your goals.
A cheap alternative to 1-2-1 training is small group training. By splitting the session fee with friends, you get expert attention for a fraction of the price.

Hi! My 15 years experience of training clients in Central London performing over 12,000 1-to-1 sessions has taught me how remarkably different we all are. Not only in our exercise history, but also likes and dislikes, time management, old injuries, mindset and so on. That experience has enabled me to tailor the best possible workout programme for you and your goals. My areas of expertise are in: 1. Joint health 2. Body Confidence 3. Posture & core What don't I like? The "calories in-calories out" and how much fat you've burned approach!!!! Why? Because when your mind is always focused on numbers, its not tuned into the messages that come from the body to either a) move more/eat more or b) move less/eat less. When you get out of your own way, the body will tell you what it needs, which is why I LOVE dispelling the myth of "no pain, no gain". Sure, you're going to have to perform some reps, and a kick up the bum is necessary at times! (myself included!). But, overall, my style is about helping you learn about how to take care of your body no matter what shape its in, and in doing so, nurture better mental and physical wellness. This overall rise in mind-body wellness is what raises your self awareness and self motivation to the degree you don't need a trainer any more. Sure, I love clients to stay on if they love what I offer, but overall, I've built my business on making sure clients don't need me eventually! Why do I have that style rather than just create a generic programme of "lets burn calories"? Because each human body is so unique and so much more nuanced than that. What works well for one person might not work for another, so individualising sessions is vital! In health and happiness, Will
By listening to you and asking open questions. The key to understanding what you want is communication - so I need to ask good questions done so in a way that makes you feel comfortable and relaxed to open up.
Listening to your body. Whether it needs water for energy and mental clarity, some movement for mood boosting, deep breathing for stress management or exercises to improve posture and reduce joint pain - what ever it is you're body needs, it'll tell you. All you've got to do is learn how to tune into the clues being sent and this is where my coaching aids in that process.
I love hearing clients speak about their wellness journey; the highs and the lows because it helps me feel connected to why they're doing the sessions. The better I get to know a clients motivations, the more and more I can tailor the programmes for the best results, which gives me tremendous satisfaction.
I'll never forget meeting a trainer 15 years ago called Julie, who upon discussing whether she'd be at the gym on Friday, she said "Friday? I haven't worked a Friday in 5 years!". That was music to my surfing-addicted ears and I've done a 4 day week ever since. And it lends its self really well to how I like to be when I teach - if I'm well rested and full of happiness, I'm the best teacher I can be. There's nothing worse than seeing a tired stressed out trainer trying to help someone live a healthier lifestyle - it just doesn't seem to fit.
A word I prefer to "should" is could. Why could, or; why do clients hire me? I think, overall, its my positive energy, genuine encouragement and deep passion for what you're trying to achieve. Once we get past the business aspect of PT, its really about creating a great rapport. One of humour, understanding and most importantly; trust.
