Einstein said that you cannot solve a problem with the same level of thinking that you used to create it. You can not heal in the environment which made you sick. In order to experience a different level of thinking, it is essential that you entertain a certain level of vulnerability, and that you trust your coach to support you through your own uncharted territory - towards the life of your dreams. "I don’t think I really believed that I would be living the lifestyle I dreamt of, but the truth is that I am! ...with Colin’s support and positivity I now believe that I really can have what I want! I can’t thank Colin enough for the changes he’s helped me to make in my life.” (Kate) Trust and vulnerability is the glue that bonds the coaching relationship together. Coaching is definitely not "One Size Fits All" - it is crucial that you have the right coach for you. Would you enter into a relationship without first meeting the person? So why should coaching be any different? It is a relationship, after all.... What do you love most about your job?

One of my mentors, Brendon Burchard - regarded by Forbes as the "world's leading High Performance Coach" - inspired me to "Live, Love, and Matter." I am enthused to wake up every morning to "make a difference."

Life is short, but I honestly believe that we wait too long to START living. It is my passion to help you to "wake up", and to start living the live that you were always destined to live.

I LOVE my life! It wasn't always that way - I have built it by design, and I am passionate about playing a role in supporting others to achieve the same. There is a definite roadmap to success. Bob Proctor shared it with me, and and I would love to share it with you!

What inspired you to start your own business?

"The opposite of courage is not cowardice, it's conformity" - Jim Hightower.

I dedicated the best part of 25 years to senior management roles in retail and hospitality - frustrated to be drowning in a sea of mediocrity and conformity, and living other people's dreams and visions. I chose to live MY purpose and MY dreams, and - having achieved that - I now choose to support people just like you, to find your voice and to live your life.

My father was a doctor. A hardworking, and highly respected man. I learned that presents are no substitute for presence. I choose to honour my family - something which I could not realistically achieve working the hours associated with retail or hospitality. I chose to change my "circumstances"...

"I don't believe in circumstances. The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and if they can't find them, make them." — George Bernard Shaw

Dan Bobinski - in "Management.Issues" - writes, "Let's examine just a few of the benefits of having someone as a confidant, be it a mentor or a coach."

1. You'll gain clarity because you're often too close to a situation to see it clearly. Stated another way, it's pretty hard to see your nose, isn't it? It is literally too close to your eyes, and you just can't see it very well. Having another person sharing his or her insights about your situation gives you an outside perspective on how to improve. If you are motivated to make improvements, you'll place a lot of value on that person's perspective.

2. You'll have accountability. Without accountability we usually end up with a lot of blame or a lot of excuses as to why things don't get done. Sometimes both. Because it's difficult to be accountable to yourself (not impossible, but quite difficult), having someone to whom you're accountable helps you stay on track with those non-urgent but important actions which lead to personal and professional growth.

3. Coaching and mentoring is custom tailored to you. You can attend all the workshops and read all the books you want, but they will forever be delivered to a bell curve of people, not specifically to you. In coaching and mentoring relationships, everything is customized to meet your individual needs. You'll have to become vulnerable to some degree and acknowledge your human frailty, but a good mentor or coach is looking for ways you can capitalize on your strengths while compensating for your weaknesses. That just can't happen in a workshop the same way it can during a one-on-one.

"... I just believe that unless you're God, everyone has room to grow. As a final word, be sure that whoever you select as a mentor/coach is qualified for the job. This field does not require a license, so anyone can say they're a coach. Be confident that whoever you work with maintains your best interests at heart. Investing in yourself always brings worthwhile returns."

Steven Berglas, writing in Forbes, says... "Folks write to me because they believe, as a shrink, I have an answer to their questions about “how to make it” as a business builder. The prototype reads like this: “I’ve done well in school, am told I have great potential, but haven’t been able to board the bullet train in order to ride the fast track to success. What should I do?”

I’d like to answer all those letters now by offering one, and only one, suggestion: Find a mentor."

Your professional life coach will be able to advise you on the full range of coaching available and will be able to help you select the best one to suit your needs. They will also be able to answer any questions you may have. Use Bark to get free quotes and find a trusted life coach today.

You can have as many or as few life coaching sessions as you like. Many life coaches operate over the phone or via the internet so the sessions can easily fit around your schedule. Some people hire a life coach once every few months, some people have a session once a week.

Life coaching sessions will typically last up to an hour. Often after an initial assessment, sessions can be conducted over the phone, face to face, over email, via Skype/Zoom and occasionally through instant messaging.

During the session, your life coach will ask you a number of questions, such as what you want to achieve in life, what areas you're unhappy with and where you'd like to see yourself in the future. Although a life coach will work with you, it’s often up to you to challenge or reflect upon certain ideas you have to help you move forward with your life. You will never be forced to make any decisions you don't feel comfortable with and all sessions will be confidential.

Life coaching is focused on your present and your future. Coaching accepts your current reality and looks to improve your outcome moving forward. Life coaches are not health professionals and they do not diagnose you. By contrast, therapy focuses on your past and looks to delve into past actions and patterns. It is analytical but not action-oriented.

Most mainstream health insurance providers do not cover the costs of life coaching because it is not considered a mental health profession in the same way therapists and counsellors are.

Life coaches do not need to have any formal or academic qualifications but you may want to look for life coaches who possess an industry-specific qualification, such as the Life Coaching Diploma or Personal Performance Diploma (PPD).

You may also want to ask for testimonials of their recent work. You could also look at their profile page on Bark, which shows you reviews from past customers who have used their life coaching services.

A life coach is a trained professional who aims to help and guide individuals to make, meet and exceed personal and professional goals. They support clients on a journey to rediscover their own strength and abilities. This can include excelling in the workplace, becoming happy and fulfilled at home, exploring your potential, managing health conditions and achieving life ambitions.

By harnessing techniques based on core psychological principles and intuition, life coaches empower clients and provide a toolkit of teachings to confidently face difficult challenges and overcome emotional barriers.

Life coaches can specialise in one of these particular areas of coaching: career coaching, executive business, group coaching, health and wellbeing, performance management, personal development, relationships, retirement, spiritual and youth coaching.

Rapport is one of the most important parts of life coaching. If you feel uncomfortable with your professional, you are unlikely to gain much from the session. It is advisable to get in contact before you book a session to meet your life coach so you can gauge how comfortable you are in their presence. It is worth talking to a few potential life coaches and ask questions.

Yes! As long as you have a strong internet connection, then your life coach can deliver sessions via an online video chat platform. Alternatively, it can be done over the phone.
