"There Once was a Girl in Love with All Things Vintage..." It is hard to resist the allure of the roaring '20s, the retro glamour of the 1950s, the warmth of French country & the distressed charm of bucolic Scandinavian accents... From burlesque influences & boudoir chic to shabby chic, all inspirations are represented by the constantly evolving collection of vintage & antique furniture, spanning many an era long gone. Handpainted, NOT sprayed. Decoupaged. Appliqued. Original decals. Distressed. Hand waxed. Fully stripped & reupholstered with calico interliners & exquisite top fabrics. Trimmed off with beautiful braid. All pieces have been given a bespoke treatment & as such, each is an individual "one off", never to be repeated. “Remember to remember...lest we forget...”

What do you love most about your job?

It's all about combining my own personal passion for vintage and antique furniture with top quality customer service.

Reworking these beautiful pieces for today's homes allows me to be completely creative and I love the fact that each day starts and ends with me being totally fulfilled.

From seeking out the best raw pieces. to creating their new look, to being a complete fabricaholic, to welcoming new clients in and seeing them fall in love with something...that's why I do what I do, it's a great feeling.

I love the variety in my work and meeting so many different faces over the years, many of whom have become returning customers.

Working for yourself, you just can't beat it...I simply adore my job!!

What inspired you to start your own business?

I have always loved old furniture and appreciate the quality and design of such shapely vintage and antique pieces.

Whilst not to everyone's taste, beautiful pieces of the past can be reworked and upcycled in the hand painted and reupholstered French style of shabby chic, enabling them to become stunning contemporary features of homes today...

Why should our clients choose you?

My clients enjoy the attention to detail I devote to every piece, the quality of the paints and fabrics used and my perfectionist approach.

As well as having a constantly changing selection of finished pieces available and on display to purchase, clients can also commission their chosen pieces from my large selection of raw stock in storage to be prepared according to their own tastes and decor schemes.

Clients can also bring me their own treasures for me to work upon. I work strictly to appointment from 2pm daily, facilitating dedicated personal consultations, offering evening and weekend appointments too, to suit my clients' busy lifestyles...

Stewart responded quickly from our request to build a kitchen/dining table from planks we had been storing from a huge beech tree that came down in our garden 5 years ago. He did such an excellent job, we asked Stewart to make us a console table too. It is simply stunning. His attention to detail and craftsmanship was superb and created some memorable pieces of furniture for us. THANK YOU

I approached Stewart Lindford, Cabinet Maker via Bark to ask him to make us a bespoke table base and sideboard top to match design, colour and texture of chairs we were ordering. He was extremely easy to communicate with, very professional and obviously a true craftsman in his field. He clearly advised me of the process, price and a detailed account of exactly how he recommended constructing the base to ensure it would support the heavy 2m x 1m x 20mm quartz we were having templated and fitted to the top of this one off table. He sent me progress photos along the way as I had requested and then arranged for delivery to my address of both the table base and matching sideboard top he had made. Both items were exceptionally well protected and packaged and both communication and delivery was exactly as he had said. We are absolutely delighted with the finished products and cannot thank Stewart enough for his hard work in making our idea come to fruition. His workmanship is of an exceptional standard and I would highly recommend him to anyone without fail !

Stewart is a highly skilled craftsman. He was incredibly attentive listening carefully to our requirements, ensuring that he completely understood our requirements and sending a detailed drawing before any contract was made. Throughout the work he kept us informed of progress with photos. The kelim covered stool was completed in about 3 weeks. It is very sturdy and looks stunning. Stewart was a joy to deal with throughout the process. He was always easy to get hold of if we had questions and contacted us to agree finer points of detail during the work. I have no hesitation in recommending Stewart as an excellent cabinet maker and craftsman.
