Ffyona Duncan Therapies

I own a small local business where I provide face-to-face hypnotherapy and counselling. I can treat a number of different issues including weight loss, quitting smoking, tackling phobias and pain management via hypnotherapy. I offer a number of 'bolt-on' packages to complement my sessions such as journal therapy. I have a dedicated therapy room within my own home that respects the covid-19 guidance. I am also able to see clients in their own homes. For counselling I offer 'walk and talk' sessions in the local area if a client prefers to be outdoors, plus I offer services via telephone or Zoom. My belief is that access to therapy should be available for all and this is reflected in my pricing. I can offer all clients a safe and non-judgmental space where issues can be explored and reflected upon.

What do you love most about your job?

Working with the clients, seeing positive changes within the clients.

What inspired you to start your own business?

My interest in Hypnotherapy and Counselling stems from undertaking both of these therapies in the past on a personal level, plus working in the Care sector for 7 years, enabling me to work with bereavement and depression.

I qualified with a Level Three Diploma in Hypnotherapy in October 2018. After a period of reflection I opened my business in August 2019. Over the past year I have worked with a range of clients and issues. In terms of therapy I tailor my sessions to suit the client. I am trained and experienced in a wide range of Hypnotherapy techniques including The Rewind Technique, Rapid Inductions, Analysis of Dreams and using journaling for therapy. I am constantly expanding my business with new techniques and packages.

Why should our clients choose you?

I tailor my packages to each individual client, as every person is different.
Great value for money aimed at making therapy accessible to all.

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

I can offer Counselling over Zoom or via telephone.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

Health and safety of clients is my top priority. That’s why I will always wear a mask, provide Antiseptic hand cream and will keep a safe distance. My private room is a regularly sanitized space where seating is appropriately placed.

During home visits I will always wear a mask, bring antibacterial hand cream and keep at least a 2 metre distance at all times.

Counselling FAQs

Your expert Counsellor will be able to advise you on the full range of services available and will be able to advise on what is most suitable. Use Bark to get free quotes and schedule an appointment today.

At your appointment, you will be encouraged to talk about your feelings and emotions with a trained Counsellor who will listen and support you without judging or criticising.
The therapist can help you gain a better understanding of your feelings and thought processes and find your own solutions to problems. However, they will not usually give advice or tell you what to do. The Counsellor might sum up what they understand you have been saying so that they can help you to form a plan of action.

Counselling can take place in a number of ways. These include:

  • Face to face session

  • Group session

  • Phone session

  • Email session

  • Online through live chat services or video conferencing software

You may be offered a single session of Counselling, a short course of sessions over a few weeks or months or a longer course that lasts for several months or years.

It can take a number of sessions before you start to see progress but you should gradually start to feel better with the help and support of your Counsellor.

You can be confident that any of the Bark local Counsellors listed will give you a reliable and efficient service to help you feel better.

You could look for Counsellors that are accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA) which means that they have met the PSA’s required professional standards to practise.

Before you choose a Counsellor, you could read testimonials and read details of the issues they can help with on their website.

You could also look at their profile page on Bark and check out reviews from past customers too.

Counselling can help with many issues. These include the following:

  • Mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety or eating disorders.

  • Physical health conditions such as infertility.

  • Difficult life events such as a bereavement, a relationship breakdown or work-related stress.

  • Dealing with difficult emotions such as low self-esteem or anger.

  • Sexual identity issues.

  • Divorce.

  • Redundancy and work issues.

  • Phobias and fears.

Absolutely! Many Counsellors provide their services remotely via an online video call or the telephone. Not only is it more convenient, but it's also the preferable option for many people who would feel more comfortable holding the session from the comfort of their own home.
