I offer Face to Face counselling in Trowbridge and Email Counselling for clients in the UK. I am a qualified and professional Counsellor and Hypnotherapist. I offer both therapies individually or as a unique combination to facilitate lasting change. I work in a person centred way, which makes you, the client, the most important person in the room. Once the client’s needs have been identified, I then take an integrative approach using elements of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy and Brief Solution Focused Therapy. I tailor the treatment to suit each client and their individual needs. I ensure that from the initial meeting, my clients feel welcome, at ease and supported through every step of their journey.

What do you love most about your job?

I love my job! Providing Counselling and Hypnotherapy is my passion.
I find listening to a client’s life story is inspiring. People are incredibly strong underneath and sometimes need a little help to rediscover their own strength and retrain their brain to think more effectively and positively.
When working with my clients, the highlight for me is when they have a ‘lightbulb’ moment. This is the moment when they see their problems from a different perspective and recognise the self defeating behaviours that they did not know they had. It is awesome. This is the point when the client’s life, behaviour and thought patterns change.
Saying goodbye to a client at the end of treatment is when I know I really helped that person. We both know that they are leaving because they have made the changes that they wanted to or needed to. It is wonderful to see clients body language change through counselling and watching them leave with their head held high once again.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I started my own Counselling and Hypnotherapy business because it has been my dream for the last 12 years.
It has taken me 4 years of study to achieve my qualifications. And it was worth every minute!
I have experienced miscarriages, grief, loss, stress, depression, anxiety and I know how hard it is to take the step, I also know how important it is to take that step.
Having had counselling and Hypnotherapy, I found that it helped me to recover from many difficult periods in my life. It has made me emotionally stronger, more self aware and more self confident as a result. Therefore, I know I can help other people as I have been helped in the past.

Why should our clients choose you?

I am a professional and friendly counsellor. My unique approach of combining Counselling and Hypnotherapy to achieve the results you want and need can enable you to make that change.
Feedback I have had from previous clients, describe me as, ‘ Jennifer helped me to feel so much better and to value my self worth’.
‘Jennifer made me feel at ease straightaway and I felt I could talk about everything for the first time, without judgement’
I will provide the best service that I can to meet your individual needs. I can also provide messaging in between sessions if you need it.
I hope to meet you very soon, Jennifer

Counselling FAQs

Your expert Counsellor will be able to advise you on the full range of services available and will be able to advise on what is most suitable. Use Bark to get free quotes and schedule an appointment today.

At your appointment, you will be encouraged to talk about your feelings and emotions with a trained Counsellor who will listen and support you without judging or criticising.
The therapist can help you gain a better understanding of your feelings and thought processes and find your own solutions to problems. However, they will not usually give advice or tell you what to do. The Counsellor might sum up what they understand you have been saying so that they can help you to form a plan of action.

Counselling can take place in a number of ways. These include:

  • Face to face session

  • Group session

  • Phone session

  • Email session

  • Online through live chat services or video conferencing software

You may be offered a single session of Counselling, a short course of sessions over a few weeks or months or a longer course that lasts for several months or years.

It can take a number of sessions before you start to see progress but you should gradually start to feel better with the help and support of your Counsellor.

You can be confident that any of the Bark local Counsellors listed will give you a reliable and efficient service to help you feel better.

You could look for Counsellors that are accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA) which means that they have met the PSA’s required professional standards to practise.

Before you choose a Counsellor, you could read testimonials and read details of the issues they can help with on their website.

You could also look at their profile page on Bark and check out reviews from past customers too.

Counselling can help with many issues. These include the following:

  • Mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety or eating disorders.

  • Physical health conditions such as infertility.

  • Difficult life events such as a bereavement, a relationship breakdown or work-related stress.

  • Dealing with difficult emotions such as low self-esteem or anger.

  • Sexual identity issues.

  • Divorce.

  • Redundancy and work issues.

  • Phobias and fears.

Absolutely! Many Counsellors provide their services remotely via an online video call or the telephone. Not only is it more convenient, but it's also the preferable option for many people who would feel more comfortable holding the session from the comfort of their own home.
