It's all about relationships - primarily the relationship you have with yourself and how this impacts the relationships with others and the world. Sometimes these relationships become ruptured, and if not repaired, psychological disturbances may result. As a therapist, I will work with you towards restoration and promote psychological well-being and growth. As a life coach, I will facilitate transformation from the current you to the ideal you, you aspire to be. In both cases, this means helping you to access the necessary inner resources to experience a greater sense of free will and a higher sense of achievement and fulfilment. I'm a Counselling Psychotherapist and Certified Mindset Coach, who is attuned to the pluralistic framework. This means I will be flexible and can use a variety of approaches to work with you in the best way that suits the issue and your personality. I'm also a qualified Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) Life Coach and a qualified hypnotherapist. I usually charge £50 per hour for counselling/hypnotherapy and £80 for coaching but if you feel that's too much we can agree on a lower price if need be - my priority is providing assistance to those who ask for it, not financial gain.

What do you love most about your job?

Simply put, I love helping people. A vital component in mutual development and healing is the authentic connection that's shared between people.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I worked as an admin officer for a local authority for over 20 years. After being interested in philosophy and psychology since 1991, I realised I would be more fulfilled if I had a career I was more passionate about - a career that involved assisting people more directly and with impact.

Why should our clients choose you?

I'm an experienced online and telephone counsellor/coach. Before our work begins, I can send you a form where you can indicate what style of therapy or coaching you would like to receive. This increases the chances of compatibility. I have studied a vast array of issues so that I can be as helpful as possible. I use a pluralistic approach, which enables me to be flexible and adapt the work I do to ensure it's suitable and effective in resolving issues in the quickest, safest most ethical way possible. My way of working invites review at any time, so if anything is not working, please feedback so that the treatment plan can be quickly adapted. In terms of the support I will offer, whether you want to be challenged or just need a listening ear or interpretations, I will meet people where they are and walk alongside them in an empathetic and supportive way.

I'm a member of BACP, an accredited member of the National Counselling Society and a registrant member of the National Hypnotherapy Society. I'm also a qualified NLP Life Coach and a Mindset Coach. The coaching courses I graduated from are accredited by the International Coaching Federation, which is commonly regarded as the most reputable coaching professional organisation in the world.

Counselling FAQs

Your expert Counsellor will be able to advise you on the full range of services available and will be able to advise on what is most suitable. Use Bark to get free quotes and schedule an appointment today.

At your appointment, you will be encouraged to talk about your feelings and emotions with a trained Counsellor who will listen and support you without judging or criticising.
The therapist can help you gain a better understanding of your feelings and thought processes and find your own solutions to problems. However, they will not usually give advice or tell you what to do. The Counsellor might sum up what they understand you have been saying so that they can help you to form a plan of action.

Counselling can take place in a number of ways. These include:

  • Face to face session

  • Group session

  • Phone session

  • Email session

  • Online through live chat services or video conferencing software

You may be offered a single session of Counselling, a short course of sessions over a few weeks or months or a longer course that lasts for several months or years.

It can take a number of sessions before you start to see progress but you should gradually start to feel better with the help and support of your Counsellor.

You can be confident that any of the Bark local Counsellors listed will give you a reliable and efficient service to help you feel better.

You could look for Counsellors that are accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA) which means that they have met the PSA’s required professional standards to practise.

Before you choose a Counsellor, you could read testimonials and read details of the issues they can help with on their website.

You could also look at their profile page on Bark and check out reviews from past customers too.

Counselling can help with many issues. These include the following:

  • Mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety or eating disorders.

  • Physical health conditions such as infertility.

  • Difficult life events such as a bereavement, a relationship breakdown or work-related stress.

  • Dealing with difficult emotions such as low self-esteem or anger.

  • Sexual identity issues.

  • Divorce.

  • Redundancy and work issues.

  • Phobias and fears.

Absolutely! Many Counsellors provide their services remotely via an online video call or the telephone. Not only is it more convenient, but it's also the preferable option for many people who would feel more comfortable holding the session from the comfort of their own home.
