James has a very calming yet soothing voice which makes it easier to talk to him and through these past 10 days he's always been at the other end of the phone if I need to get in touch. If ever I need hypnotherapy again he would be the first person I'd contact and would and have recommended James to friends and family

When people visit my site it is usually because they are going through a very difficult time in their lives and are feeling a real need to get the right kind of help and support. People seek help when their thoughts and feelings become difficult to manage, which can often result in feeling overwhelmed. You may be feeling confused about a situation or you may be struggling to make sense of things.

Hi, I just wanted to reach out to see how I can support you and your team with your personal and professional wellbeing. My mission is to make counselling and coaching as socially acceptable as getting a leg wax! Covid has changed our lives and it’s unlikely our lives will return to “normal” any time soon so reaching out for help adjusting to our ‘new normal’ is a natural first step but for too long seeking counselling and coaching has been seen as something we should be ashamed of but I want to change that.

With over 20 years experience of teaching ancient lineage healings and tools of power which balance the human energy fields, mental and emotional bodies I specialise in empowering people to achieve inner peace and self mastery. See I grew up in Ireland in a family where I felt trapped, suppressed and limited so I decided to move away. However, I learned that changing location does not change you, your problems travel with you and limit you and your life!

I am a qualified Counsellor and Psychotherapist, providing a non-judgmental and empathetic service. My model of counselling is integrative, drawing on components from Psychodynamic Theory (looking at the past including childhood) and Humanistic Theory (exploring the now and empowering clients to focus on themselves). I am trained and experienced in working with both adults and young people.

I’ve helped people get a pay rise, a promotion, the best performance review of their career, deal with depression, navigate the rough seas of divorce, overcome anxiety, dramatically reduce their insomnia, break out of a cycle of toxic relationships to find love and feel a deep sense of inner-peace. There are an infinite number of ways you could help someone to achieve those results, but my approach in based on helping you practice a few key mindfulness-based skills:

Andy has really helped me, I was suffering from panic attacks in the middle of the night which have stopped and he's given me tips on improving my anxiety which has reduced considerably. I was very sceptical as my main concern was that my problems weren't fixable however he has helped me a lot. Would definitely recommend.

In the first session you will have 60 minutes of my full attention and total respect of your inner processes. Counselling is good for you if you need support in hard times: losses, break-ups, dramatic changes, etc. Coaching can help when you want to go from A to B and need someone next to you who motivates you to stick to your plans. If you are unsure of a decision you need to make or don't know how to handle a situation that is becoming urgent, I offer the best of counselling and coaching together for maximum impact. When done together with counselling, coaching speeds up the process and encourages you to be more and more self-reliant and independent in your recovery. If there are no major underlying issues, most people will experience relief after just 4 sessions. My other qualifications include psychology (second degree), dramatherapy (postgraduate diploma) and coaching (alternative training route). In these three decades I have learned a lot and never stopped questioning myself and my method. Counselling and coaching are now my main occupation, although I have plenty of other interests to keep my lifestyle in balance, as too much listening to traumatic histories isn't healthy for anyone in the long run. In whatever I do, my main focus is the way we can overcome challenges and develop our full potential. I have published articles and books about personal growth and am now editing the second draft of my next self-help book about recovering from trauma and dealing with tricky family members (to be published in 2021).
Enthusiasm about new endeavours in a foreign land.
Most clients appreciate my open-mindedness, creativity and universalism. In previous jobs, I was often appreciated for my reliability and flexibility.
I am always intrigued by what people tell me about their life plans, work challenges, and their way of dealing with them.
It is a privilege for a professional like me to witness the self-regenerating power of each individual, and and my only ambition is to be able to allow the process to unfold in ways I can't predict, I can only nurture and respect.
At the moment I only provide online services.
If you request a face-to-face consultation, I am available to meet you at local parks where we can walk and/or sit on a bench a face mask on and keep a 1.5 mt safety distance. Payment can still be made online, so there is no exchange of objects anyway.

How much does Counselling cost?
Your expert Counsellor will be able to advise you on the full range of services available and will be able to advise on what is most suitable. Use Bark to get free quotes and schedule an appointment today.
What should I expect from my Counselling session?
At your appointment, you will be encouraged to talk about your feelings and emotions with a trained Counsellor who will listen and support you without judging or criticising.
The therapist can help you gain a better understanding of your feelings and thought processes and find your own solutions to problems. However, they will not usually give advice or tell you what to do. The Counsellor might sum up what they understand you have been saying so that they can help you to form a plan of action.
Counselling can take place in a number of ways. These include:
Face to face session
Group session
Phone session
Email session
Online through live chat services or video conferencing software
You may be offered a single session of Counselling, a short course of sessions over a few weeks or months or a longer course that lasts for several months or years.
It can take a number of sessions before you start to see progress but you should gradually start to feel better with the help and support of your Counsellor.
You can be confident that any of the Bark local Counsellors listed will give you a reliable and efficient service to help you feel better.
What should I look for when booking a Counselling session?
You could look for Counsellors that are accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA) which means that they have met the PSA’s required professional standards to practise.
Before you choose a Counsellor, you could read testimonials and read details of the issues they can help with on their website.
You could also look at their profile page on Bark and check out reviews from past customers too.
What issues can a Counsellor help with?
Counselling can help with many issues. These include the following:
Mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety or eating disorders.
Physical health conditions such as infertility.
Difficult life events such as a bereavement, a relationship breakdown or work-related stress.
Dealing with difficult emotions such as low self-esteem or anger.
Sexual identity issues.
Divorce.
Redundancy and work issues.
Phobias and fears.
Can I get a Counselling Service online?
Absolutely! Many Counsellors provide their services remotely via an online video call or the telephone. Not only is it more convenient, but it's also the preferable option for many people who would feel more comfortable holding the session from the comfort of their own home.
