What do you love most about your job?

1. Seeing my clients genuinely smile or belly laugh for the first time in months or years
2. Seeing genuine results. I use important ways to regularly measure progress and outcomes using Core Outcome Routine Evaluation screening measures and other techniques. Typically, a person measuring 26-30 on the intensity of depression or anxiety symptoms scores 6-8 by the time therapy with me has ended.

What inspired you to start your own business?

Years ago I saw a therapist during a period of great distress. Because I've been there I can spot human suffering very easily, even when its disguised. I see so so many people weighed down and disliking, even hating, life because they lack someone safe and trustworthy to talk to. Being able to help inspired me to train as a therapist. I offer a safe, non-judgmental space to explore your thoughts and emotions, heal from life's hurts and grow from the experience. I've seen how building a relationship with a trusted other can really produce a shift from where you are stuck.

Life is too short to waste. Tell me, what are you going to do to begin to enjoy your one precious life?

Why should our clients choose you?

I offer a warm and friendly non-judgmental approach which helps us to build a genuine relationship using tools and techniques from a variety of approaches in order to provide a tailored fit for the client. In other words I bend to fit your preferred way of working rather than expect you to contort yourself into my way of working. I also see my clients as doing the best they can as they currently see it, offer positive regard without condition and warmly and respectfully challenge them to find their own answers to their own problems that makes sense to them as the unique individuals they are. I will be alongside them to offer what I notice and help them find new and better perspectives to bring about greater happiness.
I am situated within very easy reach of transport links to buses trains and links to motorway and am only around 10 minutes' walk to the very heart of Cardiff City Centre. There is free parking for my clients outside the building which is situated on a discrete and quiet residential street on the ground floor of in an attractive and comfortable Victorian building.
You will be greeted with warmth and consideration.

Counselling FAQs

Your expert Counsellor will be able to advise you on the full range of services available and will be able to advise on what is most suitable. Use Bark to get free quotes and schedule an appointment today.

At your appointment, you will be encouraged to talk about your feelings and emotions with a trained Counsellor who will listen and support you without judging or criticising.
The therapist can help you gain a better understanding of your feelings and thought processes and find your own solutions to problems. However, they will not usually give advice or tell you what to do. The Counsellor might sum up what they understand you have been saying so that they can help you to form a plan of action.

Counselling can take place in a number of ways. These include:

  • Face to face session

  • Group session

  • Phone session

  • Email session

  • Online through live chat services or video conferencing software

You may be offered a single session of Counselling, a short course of sessions over a few weeks or months or a longer course that lasts for several months or years.

It can take a number of sessions before you start to see progress but you should gradually start to feel better with the help and support of your Counsellor.

You can be confident that any of the Bark local Counsellors listed will give you a reliable and efficient service to help you feel better.

You could look for Counsellors that are accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA) which means that they have met the PSA’s required professional standards to practise.

Before you choose a Counsellor, you could read testimonials and read details of the issues they can help with on their website.

You could also look at their profile page on Bark and check out reviews from past customers too.

Counselling can help with many issues. These include the following:

  • Mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety or eating disorders.

  • Physical health conditions such as infertility.

  • Difficult life events such as a bereavement, a relationship breakdown or work-related stress.

  • Dealing with difficult emotions such as low self-esteem or anger.

  • Sexual identity issues.

  • Divorce.

  • Redundancy and work issues.

  • Phobias and fears.

Absolutely! Many Counsellors provide their services remotely via an online video call or the telephone. Not only is it more convenient, but it's also the preferable option for many people who would feel more comfortable holding the session from the comfort of their own home.
