What do you love most about your job?

Counselling and Psychotherapy are my passions. I enjoy making meaningful connections with my clients and have a genuine interest in finding ways to help them.

I understand how difficult it can be to seek help and tell another person what is going on for you. Therefore I work at my clients pace, honouring each clients individuality.

In my experience people have a strong need to be heard and I aim to offer a non judgemental space and a listening ear.

It is a joy and an honour to do this work and I warmly welcome you to get into contact with me if you feel I am the right counselor for you.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I used to work as a Samaritan and took a break from this to have kids. Three kids later I decided to return to counselling and began my training at BCPC in 2014. I love my work, enjoy meeting new people, making meaningful connections and believe counselling and psychotherapy can help to change unhelpful patterns.

On completing my course I set up in private practice whilst also working at Bristol Mind.

I have been working for 5 years now and look forward to working for many more.

Why should our clients choose you?

If you would like to be heard deeply, encouraged to speak your truth, gently challenged and met with relational depth then I am the right counsellor for you.

I am a warm, committed and compassionate counsellor. I have worked with a large variety of clients from different cultural and social backgrounds.

I have worked in The Southmead Project helping clients with addiction issues who came from abusive backgrounds and also at Weston College working with individuals from 16+ who came with a range of issues.

I also worked at Bristol Mind with individuals who have suffered various types of trauma.

I believe that Counselling and Psychotherapy can help shift unhelpful patterns and that working with the right counsellor is the key to this and to unlocking our potential.

I welcome you to get in contact if you feel I am the right therapist for you.

Please note I currently only have daytime slots available.

Therapist FAQs

This will vary according to the level of experience and training that the therapist holds.

This will depend on where you live, what level of training your therapist has and what they specialise in (whether they are a counsellor, psychotherapist or psychologist) and also how many years of working experience they have.

Your professional therapist will be able to advise you on the full range of therapies available and will be able to help you select the best one to suit your needs. They will also be able to answer any questions you may have. Use Bark to get free quotes and find a trusted therapist today.

You need to devote some time to finding the right therapist as the connection you have with your therapist is essential. You need someone who you can trust, someone you feel comfortable talking to about difficult subjects and intimate secrets, someone who will be a partner in your recovery. Therapy will not be effective unless you have this bond, so take some time in the beginning to find the right person.

It is worth talking to a few potential therapists and asking questions. Therapists also have special areas of focus, such as depression or eating disorders. For some issues, such as trauma or PTSD, seeing a specialist is absolutely essential.

Everyone’s treatment is different. How long your therapy lasts depends on many factors.

You may be offered a single session of counselling, a short course of sessions over a few weeks or months or a longer course that lasts for several months or years.

It can take a number of sessions before you start to see progress but you should gradually start to feel better with the help and support of your trusted Bark therapist.

Professional counsellor training takes three to five years and can be a diploma or degree level. Qualification requires a minimum number of client hours acquired through a work placement.

You may also want to ask for testimonials of their recent work. You could also look at their profile page on Bark and Bark can show you reviews from past customers who have used their therapy.

Therapy has repeatedly and consistently helped patients with a whole host of issues. It can help with mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety or an eating disorder. Or it can help with an upsetting physical health condition such as infertility, a difficult life event such as a bereavement or a relationship breakdown. It can also be used to tackle difficult emotions such as low self-esteem, anger or sexual identity issues. Therapists also offer couples therapy. Therapists can also help with anxiety issues deriving from the coronavirus.

Absolutely! Many therapists offer sessions over the phone or through an online video chat platform, so you can have a session from the comfort of your own home - all you need is a strong internet connection and you're good to go.
