What do you love most about your job?

To be able to help people to live a more happy and fulfilling life - not feel so restricted in achieving what they really want ( which before they may have imagined as impossible ) and to deal better with the hurdles life has thrown in their way. I constantly appreciate the gratitude that I receive from my clients and get a huge amount of job satisfaction in the process; with seeing my clients; post therapy; more relaxed, resolved and in control.

What inspired you to start your own business?

My inspiration came, following a successful course of therapy myself, many years ago; and being amazed at the positive difference that it made to my life. It is like any valuable health service that you may receive; are truly impressed with the outcome and if you had the opportunity to do it for yourself – you would.

For many years declining mental health and the lack of adequate; skilled resources has been a topic for debate, conjecture and decision making for various Government, World Organisations and Media platforms. I became involved because I wanted to help to make a real difference- It helped me and I wanted to give something back to help other people; so I switched my career path.

Why should our clients choose you?

I have personally experienced and know what it is like to struggle mentally and suffered the off shoots to physical health, before I sought help many years ago. This has given me the valuable ingredient of empathy; and I can understand how difficult it can be to pick up the phone and seek professional help; as one can feel that the problem may go away of its own accord, embarrassment , vulnerability or even doubts about the effectiveness of therapy and confusion about the different types.

In asking my clients ( post therapy ) what were their main requirements when they were initially seeking professional help- overwhelmingly it was to have the confidence, connection and trust in the ability of the therapist to achieve the results. I am pleased to have ticked all the boxes and continue to grow my client bank.

I listen to my clients and understand their needs; in order to help them to find the right kind of solutions and do my utmost to make it a pleasant, easy and comfortable experience; in a timely and cost effective fashion.

I have honed my skills over 15 years, been trained by the best providers in the field and continue with up to date professional development.

This will vary according to the level of experience and training that the therapist holds.

This will depend on where you live, what level of training your therapist has and what they specialise in (whether they are a counsellor, psychotherapist or psychologist) and also how many years of working experience they have.

Your professional therapist will be able to advise you on the full range of therapies available and will be able to help you select the best one to suit your needs. They will also be able to answer any questions you may have. Use Bark to get free quotes and find a trusted therapist today.

You need to devote some time to finding the right therapist as the connection you have with your therapist is essential. You need someone who you can trust, someone you feel comfortable talking to about difficult subjects and intimate secrets, someone who will be a partner in your recovery. Therapy will not be effective unless you have this bond, so take some time in the beginning to find the right person.

It is worth talking to a few potential therapists and asking questions. Therapists also have special areas of focus, such as depression or eating disorders. For some issues, such as trauma or PTSD, seeing a specialist is absolutely essential.

Everyone’s treatment is different. How long your therapy lasts depends on many factors.

You may be offered a single session of counselling, a short course of sessions over a few weeks or months or a longer course that lasts for several months or years.

It can take a number of sessions before you start to see progress but you should gradually start to feel better with the help and support of your trusted Bark therapist.

Professional counsellor training takes three to five years and can be a diploma or degree level. Qualification requires a minimum number of client hours acquired through a work placement.

You may also want to ask for testimonials of their recent work. You could also look at their profile page on Bark and Bark can show you reviews from past customers who have used their therapy.

Therapy has repeatedly and consistently helped patients with a whole host of issues. It can help with mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety or an eating disorder. Or it can help with an upsetting physical health condition such as infertility, a difficult life event such as a bereavement or a relationship breakdown. It can also be used to tackle difficult emotions such as low self-esteem, anger or sexual identity issues. Therapists also offer couples therapy. Therapists can also help with anxiety issues deriving from the coronavirus.

Absolutely! Many therapists offer sessions over the phone or through an online video chat platform, so you can have a session from the comfort of your own home - all you need is a strong internet connection and you're good to go.
