Peace of mind counselling

I am passionate about my work and have seen, both in my personal and professional life, the positive impact counselling can have on emotional and physical well-being. I named my service peace of mind as that is what I aim to help you achieve. I believe that when our mind is at peace life becomes much easier to navigate and that when we create balance in our minds, we will find it in our lives. My commitment to you - what you can expect from the sessions I believe that awareness is the first step in healing or changing and so together we will explore whatever you want to bring to therapy and where possible, and more importantly if you want to, we will find solutions to help you enjoy your life to the full. I believe strongly in the therapeutic relationship being key to change and I seek to provide an environment built on trust where together we can explore any problem you may be having. You can be assured that I will do my upmost to make you feel safe, in a non-judgemental confidential space. I have found that the unconditional, positive regard and empathy that I give to the clients I see encourages growth and development, greater insight, healing and progress. In the sessions you will have the opportunity to learn strategies, methods and skills that have been shown to be helpful with mood problems such as depression, anxiety, anger, panic, jealousy, guilt and shame. You will learn skills to help you solve relationship problems, addiction problems, handle stress better, improve your self-esteem, become less fearful, and grow more confident. If we use cognitive behavioural therapy, in the sessions, we will work together to understand thoughts, beliefs and behaviours connected to moods, physical experiences and events in our lives. I believe that self-awareness is the first step on the road to recovery. My sessions are tailored to each individual person/couple or family that I see. I aim to provide an empathic, non-judgemental space for my clients, and I endeavour to provide a supportive relationship which encourages motivation and independence, which in turn empowers my clients. A little bit about my journey After working as a school business manager in a secondary school I came to a turning point in my life and I was lucky enough, in 2007, to begin my training towards becoming a qualified counsellor/psychotherapist. I had found that whilst working as a school business manager my office often became a counselling room as people came to see me on a regular basis with their problems. I realised from this experience how strong my passion to help others was and I began my journey. After qualifying with a National Open College Network in counselling I did some training with the charity mind. When I had completed these courses, I was even more convinced that I should work towards becoming a qualified counsellor and I signed up to take a degree in counselling and psychotherapy. I qualified with a first-class honours degree and began my career in counselling working with relate counselling service. While at relate I qualified in a postgraduate certificate in systemic therapy. When I left the relate counselling service, I began my journey into private practice. Before I began my private practice I worked with organisations such as the young peoples counselling service in brentwood, the havering drug and alcohol service in romford, an NHS, IAPT service and relate counselling. Over the years I have met some wonderful people who I have felt privileged to watch grow in the sessions. I have been blown away by the amazing steps the clients I have worked with have taken to improve their lives and I have seen how therapeutic interventions have helped increase self-awareness and self-motivation which have helped them to achieve a clearer sense of direction. TRAINING QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE I am a qualified counsellor/psychotherapist holding a first-class honours bachelor of science degree in counselling and psychotherapy as well as a post graduate certificate in systemic therapy. I work in private practice providing interventions on an individual basis or with couples and families. I have previous experience of working in an NHS, Improving Access to Psychological Therapy service, a drug and alcohol service as well as several positions working with organisations providing counselling for children, adolescents and families. Some of the work I do with children and families is based in schools and I have worked in many schools in Essex and one in Suffolk. I work with clients struggling with a range of issues such as (amongst others), relationship and family issues, abuse, addiction problems, eating disorders, depression, social phobia and OCD, anxiety, PTSD, using a variety of interventions appropriate to the needs of the client. I UNDERSTAND THAT YOU WANT TO FEEL SAFE I work in accordance with the BACP ethical framework for the counselling professions and I ensure that I work to the standards of conduct, performance and ethical guidelines at all times. I ensure that I keep my skills up to date and have had extensive training in many areas of counselling and psychotherapy. This continual professional development includes areas involving safeguarding, domestic violence and abuse, bereavement and loss, sexual addiction, substance misuse and many others. I am happy to e mail any evidence of qualifications (if required). I am a registered member of BACP and have an entry on the counselling directory website, who checked and verified my qualifications. What do you love most about your job?

I feel privileged to support my clients on their road to recovery. When a client comes to see me for the first session, they may be feeling helpless and worthless and unable to shake the feeling or they may be struggling to find solutions to problems and issues in their life that are making them unhappy. I feel grateful to be able to inspire my clients to hope for a better future as they gradually find that they have the power within to develop beneficial skills to lead them out of the discomfort they are feeling. As counselling goes on I love to see my clients discover pearls of wisdom and invaluable new perspectives to help them enjoy the rest of their life.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I was inspired to start my own business as I found that the wonderful results I had been getting whilst working for organisations such as the NHS, relate, children and young peoples organisation meant that I was getting a lot of enquiries about doing private work. These enquiries became so frequent that I started to see clients privately. As this became more and more successful I made the decision to start my own business and leave the organisations I had been working with. I have been working in private practice ever since.

Why should our clients choose you?

I would hope that you would want to begin your journey into a better future because I can help you to find peace and harmony and balance in your mind. I believe that awareness is the first step in healing or changing and I have the experience and qualifications to guide you to become more aware.
I can offer you a number of interventions to help you to explore your problems and find solutions as I have worked in a variety of organisations and worked to help numerous clients suffering with all sorts of problems. I aim to bring together a variety of therapeutic theories and techniques in order to be able to offer you a comprehensive range of therapies and treatments. My sessions are always tailored to the needs of the individual
