Tanya Clarke

Tanya Clarke is a qualified and fully insured Nutritional Therapist and Naturopath specialising in inspiring people to achieve their own optimal health. Tanya studied Naturopathic Nutrition (degree level 3 year course) and Naturopathy (2 year course) at the College of Naturopathic Medicine in London. She is a qualified Gut Transformation Practitioner, Homeobotanical Therapist and specialises in the use of Medicinal Mushrooms. Naturopathy promotes the healing power of nature and the body's own self-healing mechanism. It’s centred around achieving a balance in mind, body & spirit. It can help with chronic conditions and emotional disorders, focusing on the cause of issues rather than the symptoms. Tanya’s naturopathic training consisted of iridology, Traditional Chinese Medicine, detoxification, nutrition, First Aid Homeopathy, Bach flower remedies and tissue salts. Finding the right dietary and lifestyle plan for you, is fundamental to success. Plans are personalised according to age, gender, lifestyle, food preferences, medical conditions and genetic make-up. Focus is on establishing better long-term lifestyle choices which are carefully selected using her registered 'most healthy you®' framework. Tanya is a member of the Association of Naturopathic Practitioners (ANP) and a member of the The Royal Society of Medicine. 20 years ago, with a young child, a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis, a manufacturing business to manage and being given 6 months to be confined to a wheelchair, Tanya decided to seek her own health answers. Many hours of research and with the support of her family, Tanya found the way to nudge her body back into a state of ease with no continuing signs or symptoms of the disease that she has a genetic predisposition for. More recently, Tanya lost her mother to Pancreatic Cancer. Supporting her mother nutritionally and working alongside the oncologists has given Tanya a huge insight into this disease. Tanya and her mother undertook a six year naturopathic journey involving a diet based on chemical-free food, daily walks outside in nature, yoga and a great deal of emotional support. Tanya is passionate about food, cooking and outdoor life especially being with her horses and dogs.

How important is a healthy diet to someone’s health and wellbeing?

Good nutrition is the key to good mental and physical health. The type and amount of food you eat affects the way you feel and how your body works. Eating a balanced diet is an important part of good health for everyone.

We need to replace nutrients in our bodies with a new supply every day. Food and nutrition are the way that we get fuel, providing energy for our bodies.

Understanding good nutrition and paying attention to what you eat can help you maintain or improve your health. Water is an important component of nutrition and staying hydrated is critical.

What do you love most about your job?

I love being able to help people improve or maintain their state of health.

I enjoy teaching ways that can help to make improvements and seeing people benefit.

It is a very individual journey and no 2 clients are the same which makes my job fascinating.

If someone has a medical diagnosis, I love the challenge of establishing the root cause which can then help with reducing symptoms.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (symptoms started 27 years ago) and my journey to find my own good health was my original inspiration.

I went from being advised that I would be confined to a wheelchair within 6 months to being discharged by the hospital for being too well. It took a lot of research and several years but I got there and have not seen a medical professional for MS for 15 years.

I am keen to help others understand how to rebalance their own bodies.

Why should our clients choose you?

I take clients on a completely bespoke journey to help them find the most healthy version of themselves.
This journey follows my registered 'most healthy you®' framework that takes clients from 'm' (my health concerns) all the way to 'u' (my ultimate health goals).

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

My services are provided online / remotely. When anyone wishes to buy one of my services, they are invited into my practice portal and are given their own account.
Video calls occur through this portal as are all messages. Protocols and recommendations are shared here as well.
Clients have a private, secure space where they are able to go back and look at all previous messages etc and can recap on what has been recommended.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

My services have moved to being online so that there is no worry about Covid-19 infection.

Nutritionists & Dietitians FAQs

Your specialist will be able to advise you on the full range of services available and will be able to help you select the best treatment for your needs. They will also be able to answer any questions you may have. Use Bark to get free quotes and find a specialist today.

Dietitians are the only health professionals regulated and protected by law. Registered Nutritionists can provide evidence-based advice and information about food and healthy eating. Nutritional therapists provide alternative treatment, based on the idea that the body needs 'healing' and 'correcting'.

  • Credentials - Find a specialist that has the credentials to support your personal needs.

  • Experience - Ask how long your Dietitian or Nutritionist has been practising and look up their background.

  • Gimmicks - Check your specialist is not supporting an unsuitable diet brand or supplement.

  • Right fit - Make sure they are upfront in the areas they specialise in and are able to make referrals if your needs are outside their comfort zone.

The minimum requirement for a Dietitian is a degree in Dietetics or a related science degree with a postgraduate diploma or higher degree in Dietetics. Nutritionists should have attended a course which is accredited by the Association for Nutrition (AfN).

Before you choose either a Nutritionist or a Dietitian, you could read testimonials and read reviews on their website. You could also look at their profile page on Bark and read reviews from past customers too.
