What do you love most about your job?

My name is Suzanne Gill, and I created The Open Birdcage with a desire to empower and support as many people as I can, using holistic therapies and mindful coaching methods.

I feel privileged that many people place their trust in me, as I support them in their physical healing journey, using Remedial Massage, Reiki and Guided Meditation Therapies. I am also extremely passionate about those who I am able to help online, through my empowering LoveCorethink Coaching Programme, a beautiful personalised package, that sees my clients re-connect with their core identities, for a happier and more connected life.

What inspired you to start your own business?

There is an absolute chance that I have been in the same position that you’re in right now.

Meaning, I am able to support you fully and help you to overcome obstacles, as an outsider looking in. We will dig deep, using different techniques, to examine your core identity and align this with your deep-rooted values and beliefs.

I know how it feels to not be totally satisfied with your own life, image or current situation.

I understand how crushing it can be to feel like you’re failing because you’re allowing disrespectful behaviour, just to keep the peace, struggling to please family and friends, or maintain some kind of routine.

I get what it’s like to struggle, worrying that there isn’t enough time for your relationship, intimacy, yourself, plus the added pressure of feeling lost.

I know what it’s like to constantly ask myself ‘Who am I?’, ‘Why am I here?’, ‘What am I doing?’, then just travel through the day without a plan, doing mindless things to just get jobs done.

I certainly don’t pretend to have a perfect life now, I do however have the knowledge and understanding as a Mum, a Partner, a Coach, a Therapist, and as a Woman, that may just provide you with a different perspective, something that you may not have thought of before, that may in the end help you on your life journey.

Why should our clients choose you?

I am here to fully guide and equip you, with all the tools you need. Together we will create a space for you to heal and grow, so you can get out of survival mode and start living the life you truly want, with passion and confidence.

Without clarity and goals we can aimlessly drift through each day, losing precious time. Your journey of life should feel respectful, peaceful and creative! This is why I have created LoveCoreThink, a powerful and eye-opening coaching programme that will give you the tools to completely turn your life around. I won’t hold your hand! Honestly, you won’t need me to! What I will do however is give you the support and the complete personalised package, for you to make a start on straight away.

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

Yes, most of my coaching services are provided online, either as a membership programme and/or via Zoom. I love to speak with people online, as this provides the most comfort and flexibility for my clients. Not only that, working online gives me the ability to help and speak with people locally, nationally and internationally.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

For Remedial Massage/Reiki treatments - I will be wearing a mask at all times throughout, and will ask you to wear yours too (excluding when lay on your front - back massage).

All towels and linen are freshly cleaned and the massage bench is fully sanitised.

Therapist FAQs

This will vary according to the level of experience and training that the therapist holds.

This will depend on where you live, what level of training your therapist has and what they specialise in (whether they are a counsellor, psychotherapist or psychologist) and also how many years of working experience they have.

Your professional therapist will be able to advise you on the full range of therapies available and will be able to help you select the best one to suit your needs. They will also be able to answer any questions you may have. Use Bark to get free quotes and find a trusted therapist today.

You need to devote some time to finding the right therapist as the connection you have with your therapist is essential. You need someone who you can trust, someone you feel comfortable talking to about difficult subjects and intimate secrets, someone who will be a partner in your recovery. Therapy will not be effective unless you have this bond, so take some time in the beginning to find the right person.

It is worth talking to a few potential therapists and asking questions. Therapists also have special areas of focus, such as depression or eating disorders. For some issues, such as trauma or PTSD, seeing a specialist is absolutely essential.

Everyone’s treatment is different. How long your therapy lasts depends on many factors.

You may be offered a single session of counselling, a short course of sessions over a few weeks or months or a longer course that lasts for several months or years.

It can take a number of sessions before you start to see progress but you should gradually start to feel better with the help and support of your trusted Bark therapist.

Professional counsellor training takes three to five years and can be a diploma or degree level. Qualification requires a minimum number of client hours acquired through a work placement.

You may also want to ask for testimonials of their recent work. You could also look at their profile page on Bark and Bark can show you reviews from past customers who have used their therapy.

Therapy has repeatedly and consistently helped patients with a whole host of issues. It can help with mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety or an eating disorder. Or it can help with an upsetting physical health condition such as infertility, a difficult life event such as a bereavement or a relationship breakdown. It can also be used to tackle difficult emotions such as low self-esteem, anger or sexual identity issues. Therapists also offer couples therapy. Therapists can also help with anxiety issues deriving from the coronavirus.

Absolutely! Many therapists offer sessions over the phone or through an online video chat platform, so you can have a session from the comfort of your own home - all you need is a strong internet connection and you're good to go.
