There is always a satisfying feel in helping people overcome some difficulty, or find choice where it may of been difficult to see any before.
Probably my difficulties. Many years ago I was frustrated that there wasn't anywhere you could go to effectively overcome a problem without years of therapy or medication. So, some 24 years ago I set out on a journey to discover, learn and then offer the things that work.
Because I don't rely on one way of thinking. Counselling, hypnotherapy, Edmr, cbt, Etcetera, are all communication therapies, or "talking therapies," which favour a certain way of thinking. Hypnotherapy, for example has traditionally been thought of one person "hypnotising" another person. Most people have some idea of a hypnotist overwhelming someone's thoughts and getting them to do something against their will. In actual fact we all "hypnotise" each other in the course of a conversation naturally all the time! Someone might be talking about their holiday, where they went, and how they felt when they saw what they saw? And, if you took some time to think about what you've just read, chances are you might recall images, feelings and the sounds of your own holiday or just somewhere you've been which you liked? But you wouldn't call this being "hypnotised" its just what we do (make images, feel how it felt) to understand what is bing said, what I am communicating?
So for me, to be a effective therapist you must have knowledge and experience of how all theses therapies work, after all why limit yourself to one way of thinking ?
