Love to Learn Tuition

Middlesex

‘21 Certificate of Excellence

What Do You Offer? I am a CRB certified and fully qualified teacher - BA(Hons) with QTS - offering tuition in English and Maths for children aged 4-12 years. Session are one-to-one and run for an hour on a weekly basis during term time in my studio. I am able to offer tuition session during school holidays and also run workshops during the Summer Holidays, subject to demand. I offer specialist sessions for younger students, which make use of fun, snappy play-based learning techniques - children don't even know they are working! I make use of a range of teaching resources to support understanding for children of all ages. Whether your child needs a little additional support to meet expectations at school, or if they are just looking for some extra challenge; I am able to help! I provide support towards 11+ exams (including exam technique, verbal and non-verbal reasoning) with a focus on children's well-being during the exam process. Parents are given feedback at the end of every session and I offer a very supportive approach, being available to offer advise outside of session times. About Me: With over 6 years experience working as an 'outstanding' class teacher I am able to offer children fun, purposeful teaching sequences that enable success! I have worked as a Year Group Leader and have introduced new initiatives to schools in which I have worked, including Learning to Learn. I enjoy researching educational theories and adapting them to benefit the children I teach, including use of the Leuven Scales of Involvement. I was the founding teacher for a local Nursery, and have also worked as a Reception Class Teacher. This Early Years experience enables me to provide specialist Early Years provision for my youngest students. I have worked as a tutor with children up to 12 years of age for the past 3 years, including preparing children for 11+ exams in local schools with consistently positive results. I have a university specialism in English and a particular love for this subject. I believe that children learn best when they feel confident in themselves and are having fun. In order to be successful throughout their lives, it is important to teach children how to become life-long learners. Tuition is an extra-curricular activity, therefore it should be enjoyable for children and prepared in a manner that enables them to succeed and make exceptional progress. This is what I aim for in every session.

What do you love most about your job?

Tutoring allows me to really make a difference as a teacher - specifically to help children to make fantastic progress and to believe in their own potential. I really enjoy working with children who find school challenging, helping them to overcome barriers to leaning and enabling them to succeed. After working as a class teacher for over 6 years, I felt that in the school environment it is not possible to dedicate enough time to really support these children. I noticed that in many schools, these children slip through the net and believe that they are not 'clever' enough. Tuition means that I can work with those children on a one-to-one basis and show them how fantastic they really are! I also enjoy providing more confident children with the challenges they crave and to achieve their potential in a nurturing environment. My favourite part of teaching is when my students learn to believe in themselves and fall in love with learning. When they are not discouraged by mistakes because they know they can overcome them, with a teacher who supports and believes in them. That is when the magic happens and they exceed their own expectations. That is why I became a teacher!

What inspired you to start your own business?

I strongly believe that all children deserve an outstanding education and I want to know that I have given each and every child I teach exactly that! The one-to-one nature of tuition means that I am able to provide every child with the attention and support needed for them to succeed and make exceptional progress. After teaching for over 6 years in school, I decided that tutoring really enabled me to help all the children I teach to make rapid progress with depth of understanding and a great enthusiasm for learning.
