The York English Tutor

Yorkshire

The York English Tutor offers a range of services and is here to support you with... - GCSE English (Language and Literature) - A Level English (Language and Literature) - Teaching of English as a Foreign Language As a former English teacher, I know how hard teachers work to provide the best education they possibly can for their students. Sadly, there just aren't enough hours in the day for teachers to provide the personalised, targeted education that would allow their students to make the best progress. Some students fall behind and need to support to catch up and others miss out on being pushed ahead, never achieving their full potential. The York English Tutor is here to help all kinds of students in a supportive, professional and friendly manner, ensuring they have the best chance of success with English.

What do you love most about your job?

I love to help people, and tutoring English gives me the chance to help people with a subject I care passionately about. I really like the direct nature of tutoring and how the influence you have can be seen so quickly. Seeing students overcome barriers and make progress as a result of my work with them is truly rewarding.

Why should our clients choose you?

Good tuition is about far more than just being knowledgeable about your subject; it's about knowing how people learn. Alongside a degree in Humanities and a Masters in English Literature, I am a qualified teacher of Secondary English and of English as a Foreign Language (CELTA), giving me a breadth of experience in helping a range of different students of all abilities.

I have also taught the new English GCSE and, as such, have a clear understanding of what examiners are looking for and how to help students focus their answers. Helping students understand how the exams work and what they are actually being marked for is half the battle in doing well. Whether we like it or not, knowing how to 'play the game' is a skill students need in order to succeed with their exams.
