Le Tricolore Education

I am a qualified teacher with 24 years experience as a secondary school teacher, and I was also head of department for 7 years. I have also been tutoring for as long as I can remember... First in France, teaching English when I was a teenager, and French from the age of 23 years old to adults and teenagers. In the last 3 years, I have been teaching more than 2,000 lessons online to adults and teenagers and the majority of my students (adults and teenagers alike) are long term commitments as they are very pleased with my tutoring. This is why I have limited availability. Once again, my GCSE students have done really well: the teo students I taught from October and November both achieved a grade 9. A student who was not finding French easy achieved a grade 5 as she was entered for foundation. Other students I tutored just before the exams got a grade 8 for higher and 2 grades 5 for foundation. I could not be any happier!

What do you love most about your job?

I love the success stories...
I tutored three teenagers from year 9 and they received grades 9, 9 and 8!! One of them is carrying to doing French at A level!
What I love most about tutoring is the diversity of the teaching. For 24 years, I taught in secondary schools and led a Languages Department for 7 years.
Now, I also have the pleasure of teaching adults who want to improve their French for pleasure and also for work reasons. Some adults also want to learn French from scratch and I love accompanying them on this wonderful challenge they have set themselves.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I taught 24 years in secondary schools and I decided that I wanted to have the opportunity to teach different people.

Another reason was to have a better work life balance. The pressure from the education system was such that I did not feel I was able to teach how I wanted and I often did not have the time to focus on individual students and get the best out of them.

I find tutoring is making me face new challenges and I am loving this.

Why should our clients choose you?

My experience as a secondary school teacher , knowledge of GCSE demands and also wide experience of teaching adults set me above other tutors.

My commitment, expertise speak for themselves as I have very few gaps on my schedule. I am keeping 18 of my students, both adults and teenagers, in September.

As a result I have very few gaps:
I am currently available between 8 and 10am on a Tuesday
4pm and 5pm on a Wednesday
4pm and 5pm on a Thursday
11.30am and 1pm, and also 3.30pm and 4.30pm on a Friday

My student retention speaks for itself as I have been teaching 8 students for the last 2 years; 13 students (adults and teenagers) are long term commitments. Three families have asked me to teach younger or older siblings as they are so happy about the progress that the older children have made.

KS3 and upper primary: I focus on making sure that students enjoy the lessons while making sure that I lay strong foundations to prepare for GCSE.

KS4: I ensure I diagnose what obstacles to progress exist. My wide experience of teaching at GCSE level is key to making sure that students achieve their full potential.

Adults: I listen to what the needs of the adult learner are and adapt the lessons accordingly.
