What do you love most about your job?

It is always a pleasure to see our clients get their planning permission for the extension or development that they have been dreaming of.

What inspired you to start your own business?

Simon started the business after being a Planning Officer for a Local Authority but his drive and enthusiasm make him ideally suited to helping the applicants. We have been friends for over 30 years and my CAD background and administative qualities ensure SJM Planning is always looking forwards.

Why should our clients choose you?

We won't take on a job we don't believe in. We hate telling clients that "unfortunately your planning application has been refused"; thankfully we don't hear that very often!
We are clear on our costs and a price is set from the outset, we will advise on any third party costs and we have a range of third-party consultants that we trust.

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

We do offer a remote service for Planning Consultancy - the planning process is the same nationwide and all local policies are available online.

Although based in West Kent we have undertaken projects across England and Wales including East Yorkshire, Cornwall, Essex and Cardiff.

Great service from Steve whom I commissioned to sort the planning out for my project that unfortunately took 2 years due to the local authority. Steve has been great throughout, he is punctual on responding to emails, messages and phone calls. He takes the time to explain the planning processes and what work is required such as surveys. I would recommend Steve if you are planning any project that requires planning permission.

I live in Grade II Listed thatched cottage, so the proposed scheme required a lot of detail to ensure the Heritage Asset would not be impacted. Both LBC and planning permission were needed and submitted. Consents were eventually obtained for an Air source heat Pump and re-placing ground floor slab and heating system, updating the Cottage to a more sustainable heating solution. I should also mention good communications.
