I teach mainly maths from primary to GCSE. I also teach English at primary level. I have been tutoring for 10 years but was a primary teacher and then became a Teacher of maths at an FE college.

I have graduated from Queen Elizabeth's Boys school which is the best state school in the country with all 9s and 8s and 3 A*, and will be studying Economics and Economic History at LSE in September. As I am not much older than many of the students I teach, it allows me to relate to their struggles as I experienced them as well not too long ago, and act as a role model to them alongside a tutor, compared to older tutors who can only assist students with their studies.

Rachel has provided my daughter with exceptional maths tuition. She has given her both the self confidence and the necessary skills to succeed. Her calm and structured approach moved seamlessly online with the Covid restrictions with no impact on the quality of the teaching or support she provided. The tuition has been a great success with a significant rise in my daughter's grades.

[DBS CERTIFIED!] At Lambda Tuition we understand school isn't for everybody and neither are teachers. Regardless of how badly you may need a certain grade, school may not be the most effective way for your child to achieve it. Hence at Lambda Tuition, your child will learn from affable students who scored 9's and A*'s in the current school ecosystem. We take pride in our ability to make students feel comfortable, like they're learning from a friend, rather than adding onto the daunting pressure of school with an expensive tutor.

sakinatutoring.com Hi! My name is Sakina and I’ve been a maths and science tutor for almost three years now. As a student myself, I understand the distractions, and challenges young people face today, and I know what approach actually works because I’ve been through it recently. Having done my exams not so long ago, I’m familiar with the exam style and any recent updates to the curriculum. But most importantly, I’m actually want to help students become more confident, because despite how rigorous and discouraging the system can be sometimes, I believe that with the right mindset, any student can materialise their potential. Check out my website at sakinatutoring.com to find out more about me and how I teach - every new student gets a free trial session so they can see if my teaching style suits them
I love seeing my students gradually gain confidence; whether it's watching their grades go up, or just simply those 'aha moments' where they understand a difficult concept
I started my own tutoring business at 16, right after my GCSEs, because I felt that the education system has become too driven by pressure and competition, and is losing sight of its true purpose - to give students the skills to think, reason and apply knowledge. There’s this culture of cramming for tests and passively memorising material without truly understanding the content, and I wanted to change that. I think tutoring offers a level of personalised learning that schools often don’t, but I’m also mindful not to fall into the rat race mentality that so many people get caught up in.
What sets me apart is my focus on the process of learning, not just the outcome. In a world fixated on exam scores, students often forget that real learning is about truly grasping the material, not just memorising answers.
Exams test more than memory; they test thinking. That’s why I encourage students to be curious about new material that we learn - to ask questions, make connections and actively engage with the content. Understanding the ‘whys and hows’ makes things a lot more memorable, because we connect that information to what we already know. It gives students the confidence to apply their knowledge and feel like they get what’s going on, rather than passively repeating the same procedure over and over.
When the goal of learning is learning itself rather than chasing grades, the results naturally follow. Learning with intention is counterintuitive, and something many students often miss in an effort to save time and cram. That's why, my focus is not just to teach students to get good scores, but to teach them how to study - a lasting skill that they can carry with them even when their exams are over.
Yes, I offer online tutoring via Google Meets. All students need is a device with a working microphone and camera, and I’ll take care of the rest.
I use an interactive online whiteboard so we can both write in real time, so if students have access to a tablet, that makes it even easier, but it’s not essential.
