Maths tutoring for children aged 6-13 years tailored exactly to your child's educational and emotional needs. Gentle and effective coaching that encourages your child to ask questions, make mistakes and risk 'getting it wrong.' I can help you if:- Your child used to enjoy Maths but seems to have lost confidence. Your child sometimes complains that the teacher goes too fast in maths lessons. You child tells you "I can't do maths!" Maths and tears seem to go together. Enabling your child to reignite their confidence and take charge of their own learning journey. There is no such thing as a maths brain but for those of us who lose confidence and start to believe that we 'don't get maths,' it can sometimes seem that way.....Feelings of stress and overwhelm often start when children feel helpless in a situation. These feelings are a very normal response but left unchallenged can be confidence breaking. Very quickly they can start to tell themselves, 'I Can't do this' or 'Everyone thinks I'm stupid' or 'I always get it wrong'. This can be especially true if others seem to be coping well in the same situation.....Just imagine sitting on the mat in the classroom surrounded by all your classmates. All their hands are up, they know the answer, they're starting to wriggle. Your mind has gone blank, your heart is beating fast and a strange metallic taste is in your mouth. You feel like crying, your face feels red, you wish you could disappear. As adults we know that's a stress response kicking in.....but your child just feels wrong! Children must have confidence in their ability to work things out and a willingness to risk making a mistake if they are to build resilience and succeed. I'll help your child to understand what it means when they get that 'stressed' feeling. I'll teach them how to calm that reaction so they can get on with figuring things out. I'll help them build resilience so they have the courage to make mistakes. I'll help your child to rebuild their maths confidence! Please contact me to arrange a free consultation now to discuss your child's needs.

What do you love most about your job?

I'm a Coach and Tutor who loves encouraging a tangible and self-affirming sense of “I can do this' in my clients. I'm passionate about helping young people to create a 'can do' mindset so they feel confident and ready to face challenges.

What inspired you to start your own business?

In 2014 I established a tutoring practice to help children develop a growth mindset and become confident in their ability to work things out. Real and vital skills not just for learning but to cope with life's challenges too.

I've seen how losing confidence can affect children and young adults... How hard they try to hide their panic and overwhelm... How quick they are to tell you everything is OK!

My mission is to teach children easy ways to feel calm and focused so they feel ready to take on challenges and become confident problem solvers in maths and in life.

Why should our clients choose you?

I have over 20 years of experience working in schools, daycare centres, and kindergartens in the UK and New Zealand as an ESOL Tutor, Teacher Aide, and Learning Support Assistant.

It's been my pleasure and privilege to enable children with a wide variety of learning challenges to take part in mainstream school curriculums and activities.

I've witnessed the frustrations and challenges all children can face on their learning journey and I believe that having confidence in themselves and a willingness to risk making a mistake are key requirements to help them build resilience and succeed.
