‘21 Certificate of Excellence

Hi, I’m Brian Fairchild, and I’m a 5* rated coach who specialises in supporting people to make positive changes to their working lives. If you feel stuck, frustrated, bored, overwhelmed or unmotivated at work, I can help you. Many of the people I work with feel dissatisfaction or frustration because their work no longer motivates them. They may also feel uncertain of their skills or what else they could do, leading to a lack of confidence and uncertainty. My approach to coaching is to work with you to help you connect with your sense of purpose, understand what you can offer and look at how you can lead a more fulfilling and rewarding life. People I have worked with have made significant improvements to their working life, often within a space of time. They have switched careers, increased their salary and regained control of their career. I promise that if you follow my approach you will see a difference in your life. My sessions help you develop insight into your situation – that ‘aha’ moment of why things are not working out the way they should. I will challenge you but also provide support, including a wealth of tools that will help you. These include the DISC psychometric, which helps you understand your preferences for working with others and a deeper understanding of them. I can also put you in touch with people in my network of contacts, including past clients, who can provide insight into particular industries or careers. On a practical level, I can help you with your CV and LinkedIn profile, or provide practice with interviews. In between sessions I will keep you motivated and focused, including providing a structure and exercises that provide clarity and insight. If this sounds like the kind of help you would like, please get in touch. I offer everyone the chance to experience my coaching for free through an initial coaching conversation. This is a genuine, no-obligation one-hour coaching session from which you will be able to identify at least three things you can do that will make a difference. If you want to take the coaching relationship further, then I will explain what's involved and the commitment I expect from you.

What do you love most about your job?

I love being able to make a difference to others! People who seek coaching are looking for support with an aspect of their lives that is unsatisfactory. Coaching is different from therapy or counselling in that it focuses on the future, and my role as a coach is to help my clients articulate what they want in the future and to take practical steps to get there. Working alongside people to help them take steps towards their goal and seeing the changes that they have made as a result is enormously satisfying. I regularly post the 'thank you' messages I receive on my website.

What inspired you to start your own business?

My background is in HR and learning and development. I trained with The Coaching Academy, the UK's largest coach training organisation and completed my training in 2017. I started coaching full-time in 2019, following my experience of losing my job twice in my 50's, I wanted to use my experience to help others in a similar situation to re-energise and rejuvenate their careers.
I am part of several coaching communities, including working with a coach who keeps me accountable and stretches me.
I practice what I preach and stretch myself through having coaching on how I can develop professionally. My coach is John Williams, an experienced careers coach and author of the bestselling book 'F**K work, let's play!'

Why should our clients choose you?

Choosing the right coach is a very personal choice. I always offer a free 'discovery' call which gives you the experience of getting to know me and how I would coach you.
My clients find my approach to be insightful and supportive. I am able to use my experience and personal connections in addition to my coaching skills, so as well as being able to help with the mindset shift that lies at the heart of coaching, I am able to connect you to people who can provide you with practical help, information or insights into your chosen career. I will keep you accountable and can provide a tool to track and measure your progress over time. This level of visibility of your progress makes the difference between short-term success and long-term sustainability of the growth you will experience.

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

My preferred way of coaching is through Zoom, although for people who live locally it is always nicer to meet face-to-face! I am flexible in using other systems, including coaching over the phone. My clients live across the whole of the UK, although many people I work with come from outside the UK.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

Covid has presented many challenges but it has also created opportunities. Part of my approach is to help people to identify opportunities where they may not see any. Not every cloud has a silver lining but recognising the ones that do is a skill that can be developed!
