Mark E Edmondson DHP Acc Hyp - Hypnotherapist
Have you ever been so caught up in a book that you didn’t notice the hours drift by whilst you were reading? Or driven on a motorway and arrived at your destination, completely unaware of how you go there, or unable to remember part of the journey? If you have (and almost all of us have) then you have been in a form of hypnosis.
Hypnosis occurs when we have a concentrated focus of attention from our conscious mind, that allows our subconscious to take over. It’s at that point that suggestions can be implanted to change our behaviour. If you were in that trance-like state whilst driving along the motorway, and your passenger said, “let’s stop for a drink at the next service station”, you would agree without question. When you arrived, you may wonder how you got there, but you would do it nonetheless. That is how hypnotherapy works.
The hypnotherapist deals directly with the subconscious to change learned behaviours in a way that is more effective. For example, your phobias are learned behaviours and unwanted, irrational ones at that. Hypnotherapists can help by talking directly to the subconscious and changing the way your mind thinks and deals with them, so your phobias are no longer scary.
As a fully trained and accredited hypnotherapist, who is constantly working and learning to improve my knowledge and skill sets, my approach is to get to know my clients so that I can treat them as a whole person. I try to find out as much information about you as you allow me to know, so I can discover why you smoke, or why you eat too much or any number of other issues. It is my belief that stress and anxiety are the keys to a great many of life's issues, and as such, I specialise in reducing and managing stress so that it is easier to combat all your other issues. That way, I can help you to overcome your problems in a way that ensures, with your help, they won’t come back
