Jo Dice Therapy profile image

Jo Dice Therapy

Hello, I’m Jo Dice. I offer quality, personalised counselling and psychotherapy. My approach is one of combining knowledge and science with matters of the heart and spirit. I am modern and forward thinking in my work. I offer my clients compassion and respect, whilst demonstrating authenticity and integrity. My clients often come to me wanting a little bit more from their therapist. A bit more insight, a bit more challenge, a bit more than just reflecting back to them what they already know. Having completed 4 years of comprehensive training in psychotherapy, I am able to offer this to those clients, whilst still offering the gentle, non-directive approach that other clients benefit from. I don’t believe there’s a “one size fits all” approach to counselling and psychotherapy, and I tailor my approach to your needs. I am also an experienced registered nurse. I’ve been nursing for over 17 years. I have many years of experience in counselling, psychotherapy and healthcare and a breadth of knowledge, which I bring to my work. Sometimes life can be a struggle for everyone, and even more so at the moment with the enforced isolation, chaos, lack of safety or relationship problems that lockdown brings. Through counselling and psychotherapy, I can support you with your emotions and help you to be at peace with yourself and others. I offer counselling and psychotherapy to individuals, couples and those in relationships. I have a special interest in the changing expectations of what is expected from our romantic partners in the modern world, and I’ve undertaken training with renowned couples therapist, Esther Perel. Whatever your needs please get in touch using the contact form on my website. I’d love to hear from you, you don’t need to face this alone.

What do you love most about your job?

I love getting to know my clients and trying to understand their world. I find my job extremely rewarding, especially when I see my clients grow and make positive changes in their lives.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I believe in the process of counselling and psychotherapy because I’ve been through it myself for many years, and experienced my own journey of personal growth and healing.
I have a curious and enquiring mind and I find the human brain and the development of personality fascinating.

Why should our clients choose you?

I’m a people person! I’m down to earth, genuine, warm, curious and respectful.
I view each person as unique. I aim to empower my clients to interpret their world and make their own decisions. I have a wealth of knowledge and experience and I love helping others within my work.
I am also a Practice Nurse working at a GP surgery, which may be of additional benefit to those experiencing health issues.

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

Yes, I work via Zoom or on the telephone. I have completed additional training that qualifies me for working on Zoom, and I have expert supervision that allows me to work competently in this way.

Counselling FAQs

Your expert Counsellor will be able to advise you on the full range of services available and will be able to advise on what is most suitable. Use Bark to get free quotes and schedule an appointment today.

At your appointment, you will be encouraged to talk about your feelings and emotions with a trained Counsellor who will listen and support you without judging or criticising.
The therapist can help you gain a better understanding of your feelings and thought processes and find your own solutions to problems. However, they will not usually give advice or tell you what to do. The Counsellor might sum up what they understand you have been saying so that they can help you to form a plan of action.

Counselling can take place in a number of ways. These include:

  • Face to face session

  • Group session

  • Phone session

  • Email session

  • Online through live chat services or video conferencing software

You may be offered a single session of Counselling, a short course of sessions over a few weeks or months or a longer course that lasts for several months or years.

It can take a number of sessions before you start to see progress but you should gradually start to feel better with the help and support of your Counsellor.

You can be confident that any of the Bark local Counsellors listed will give you a reliable and efficient service to help you feel better.

You could look for Counsellors that are accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA) which means that they have met the PSA’s required professional standards to practise.

Before you choose a Counsellor, you could read testimonials and read details of the issues they can help with on their website.

You could also look at their profile page on Bark and check out reviews from past customers too.

Counselling can help with many issues. These include the following:

  • Mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety or eating disorders.

  • Physical health conditions such as infertility.

  • Difficult life events such as a bereavement, a relationship breakdown or work-related stress.

  • Dealing with difficult emotions such as low self-esteem or anger.

  • Sexual identity issues.

  • Divorce.

  • Redundancy and work issues.

  • Phobias and fears.

Absolutely! Many Counsellors provide their services remotely via an online video call or the telephone. Not only is it more convenient, but it's also the preferable option for many people who would feel more comfortable holding the session from the comfort of their own home.
