Leira Muto

England

Hi, my name is Leira and I'm a professional clinical psychologist and qualified psychotherapist. I believe that all of us can have difficult periods, starting to feel strange emotions or just new, often difficult to manage. My work is to help people to go across those and to find together the best wellbeing way to manage. I gained my training and qualifications at the University of 'La Sapienza' in Rome. I also worked for six years in the Clinical Psychology Department of the General Hospital 'Fatebenefratelli' in Rome. My main professional interests are in psychotherapy, clinical psychology and organizational consultancy. During 2014 I obtained a grant from Italian authorities to train abroad and attended a few courses and a Group Relation Conference at the Tavistock Clinic in London. As I recently obtained a second grant, I am attending a course in organization and organizational dynamics in mental health services at "Centre". I'm also doing an honorary clinical placement at the British National Health Service (NHS).

What inspired you to start your own business?

I was inspired by the possibility to be helpful for who needs emotional support. I think that people for different reasons begin to feel that they can rely on someone. So personally I hope that people can find the professional to whom they entrust their problems. The choice to being a psychotherapeutic experience is a very brave act of courage and it must be treated with respect and sensibility.

Why should our clients choose you?

My way of working is to start from the needs of the person and together build a path that can develop his well-being.
I think that the psychotherapeutic experience is very deep, so sometimes painful, but it makes us compare with our own defenses and fears, developing more and more their own degrees of personal freedom. As I'm Italian I would like to balance the price of my sessions with my language skill. I will also propose to my clients a package of reception sessions: the first three sessions with a discounted price!

What do you love most about your job?

It has a wide range of different issues that have all the same base: our emotions.

I have a big passion of my profession and I would like to go on and afford the opportunity that I have to help the other. I love building the intervention starting fronte the needs of the person or organitazion.

This will vary according to the level of experience and training that the therapist holds.

This will depend on where you live, what level of training your therapist has and what they specialise in (whether they are a counsellor, psychotherapist or psychologist) and also how many years of working experience they have.

Your professional therapist will be able to advise you on the full range of therapies available and will be able to help you select the best one to suit your needs. They will also be able to answer any questions you may have. Use Bark to get free quotes and find a trusted therapist today.

You need to devote some time to finding the right therapist as the connection you have with your therapist is essential. You need someone who you can trust, someone you feel comfortable talking to about difficult subjects and intimate secrets, someone who will be a partner in your recovery. Therapy will not be effective unless you have this bond, so take some time in the beginning to find the right person.

It is worth talking to a few potential therapists and asking questions. Therapists also have special areas of focus, such as depression or eating disorders. For some issues, such as trauma or PTSD, seeing a specialist is absolutely essential.

Everyone’s treatment is different. How long your therapy lasts depends on many factors.

You may be offered a single session of counselling, a short course of sessions over a few weeks or months or a longer course that lasts for several months or years.

It can take a number of sessions before you start to see progress but you should gradually start to feel better with the help and support of your trusted Bark therapist.

Professional counsellor training takes three to five years and can be a diploma or degree level. Qualification requires a minimum number of client hours acquired through a work placement.

You may also want to ask for testimonials of their recent work. You could also look at their profile page on Bark and Bark can show you reviews from past customers who have used their therapy.

Therapy has repeatedly and consistently helped patients with a whole host of issues. It can help with mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety or an eating disorder. Or it can help with an upsetting physical health condition such as infertility, a difficult life event such as a bereavement or a relationship breakdown. It can also be used to tackle difficult emotions such as low self-esteem, anger or sexual identity issues. Therapists also offer couples therapy. Therapists can also help with anxiety issues deriving from the coronavirus.

Absolutely! Many therapists offer sessions over the phone or through an online video chat platform, so you can have a session from the comfort of your own home - all you need is a strong internet connection and you're good to go.
