Sandra is now offering counselling online and now once again IN PERSON. A very warm welcome to my counselling practice with counselling and life coaching ONLINE and out of lockdown in Vauxhall, 5 minutes walk from Vauxhall station and also in Rye, East Sussex. FIND YOUR WAY Counselling can help with Anxiety Fear of the future Crisis/Trauma Depression Divorce or partnership separation Grief/Loss Work and career issues Eating issues Life Transitions Personal Growth Self-esteem Stress Management Loss of Creativity Stagefright Writer's or Artist's Block Alcohol Abuse or Addiction Bereavement General Anxiety Disorder Relationship Counselling Loss of life's meaning A little about me: My counselling ethos is very much focused on providing professional support whether you are managing current stresses or longer term issues or just needing a 'chance to talk' for a one off session. I believe in working in a very positive way as I have learned through many years of counselling experience the path to understanding and change is often best found with positive and motivating counselling that can greatly help tilt the balance towards a life that has more meaning, fulfilment and success – whether personally, professionally, or both. Perhaps you are facing a challenging one off situation. needing to revise your life skills or struggling with longer term difficulties such as depression. lack of meaning or relationship issue. Together we can work towards a way forward without judgment and with confidentiality. My approach is Integrative, my qualification is Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling awarded by The British Association of Psychotherapy and Counselling and my work is holistic, taking the whole person in account and is based on listening, understanding and working to create a therapeutic relationship that is based on trust, confidentiality and always with a view to enabling you to enter into this new phase in your life with clarity and a new confidence. A Chance to Chat There are times when our lives might seem to be getting just too much. An argument with a loved one, work colleagues not understanding, a bad day too many. Longer term counselling might not be an answer just right at that moment but a chance to be able to talk to an unbiased professional counsellor might make the load a little lighter. This is where a ‘Chance To Chat’ 50 minute session might be very useful. The session can stand as a one off or be part of a short term group of sessions to offload and work towards a moving on. BOOK A FIRST INTRODUCTION COUNSELLING SESSION This is a fifty minute session and costs £20 We begin all counselling with a 50 minute informal introductory counselling session. This is a chance to meet and to talk through the best way forward for you in terms of your own situation and your own time frame Sessions then are £30 for a fifty minute session. Counselling for Performers & Creative Artists I also offer my highly experienced BACP qualified Counselling Service designed especially for the unique needs of singers, musicians, actors, writers, artists and dancers and all creative and performing artists, professional or non professional. This industry specific counselling is designed to explore the issues and meaning behind working with performance & creative issues such as stage anxiety & stage fright, creative & personal motivation, belief and liking of the singing voice, confidence both personally and as a musician, body image & painter's or writer's and all artistic blocks. As a professional singer and vocal coach I am able to offer over 25 years experience of working with performers and artists and therefore I feel I hold a unique position of understanding first hand the particular pressures and demands of the performer and creative person and in doing so work in a holistic way with a true empathy for the particular needs of people within the entertainment and creative industry, employing a non judgmental approach and sense of humanity at all times Our Unique Combination of Counselling and Singing I offer our very special Combined Singing and Counselling session for singers to gain confidence and explore the link between the singing voice and the psychology behind the wish to truly sing out Because I realise through my many years of working with singers and the singing voice that the process of learning to sing can offer a unique opportunity to discover and explore the many different emotions that are sometimes just below the surface waiting to be voiced, I offer a unique and special counselling/singing hour session that offers uniquely a way to combine the need to talk within the confidentiality and safety of the counselling setting as well as a want to express through the wonderful tool of the singing voice. These unique sessions can be a one off session in combination with singing tuition or can be longer term Please do contact me by phone or email if you would like to book an Introductory Counselling Session or if you have any questions. I very much look forward to hearing from you. 075•• •••••• s•••••@••••.com http://www.counsellingsouthlondon.com
Undoubtedly my work allows a sense of being able to walk beside another on their journey, to create a therapeutic relationship which is quite simply unique. This is a very privileged position to be in and not to be taken lightly and of course it is sometimes challenging, there are days that are exhausting but to be able to hear another person's story be present as a load is lifted and a new horizon glimpsed and be of support and help is deeply fulfilling. That is not to say that my work is always serious, the lightness of laughter is both cheering and enlightening and can forward the work together greatly.
Certainly no two days are the same!
I have had a very successful career as a Royal Academy of Music trained mezzo soprano and singing coach and this incredible insight into how the voice worked also enabled me to truly empathise and understand the particular pressures of the creative person and how absolutely fascinating the psychology of the performer is. With this in mind I headed off to study the Introduction to Counselling course and loved it so I carried on with my training thinking is would not be too difficult to dovetail that with my work as singing coach...!! Assumptions maybe are not always very helpful as it was a real challenge to fit counselling training into an already busy working and family life. But I did do it and the wonderful support of my fellow students enabled much laughter and joy...never to be forgotten. The day I qualified was rather special....and the rest is history!
Counselling at certain points in my life has helped me enormously and this exploration ,support and insight has really enabled me to understand patterns that I kept repeating which quite simply were preventing me from experiencing all that life had to offer. Counselling wasn't often a hey presto and a magic wand waved, although sometimes a lightbulb going on moment did happen but through the talking, the patience, the empathy of my counsellor and the downright feeling of someone truly caring I moved from stuck to moving..
Long answer maybe but alongside my thorough training, my own counselling and counselling supervision is a belief that change is possible and I have been told that in my work as a counsellor and life coach and in my singing teaching work that my general demeanour of good humour and empathy provides an atmosphere of hope and inspiration to find a new path. That's the plan!
