Hello, I’m Clare owner and founder of Eaton Psychotherapy. I am an experienced and fully accredited CBT therapist and my aim is to support you to recover from the difficulty you are experiencing so that you can get back to feeling like yourself and enjoying your life to the fullest. I have worked in adult mental health since 2014 and have 9 years of private, local authority and NHS experience combined. I offer Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and EMDR depending on what you are currently struggling with, I am passionate about these approaches and have experienced personally and professionally the transformative effect they can have on people’s lives. What do you love most about your job?

I love being able to work together with clients to gain an understanding of themselves within the context of the difficulty they are experiencing and breaking each part of the cycle down and treating each area. I find it really fulfilling to see clients feeling happier and making changes as therapy progresses.

I love that CBT and EMDR are therapeutic approaches that allow for exploration and are also very practical in terms of reducing symptoms and reaching a particular goal.

I think the approach I take provides clients with a great opportunity to improve their mental health within therapy and beyond.

My approach is a goal focussed one which prioritises gaining an understanding of the problem you are experiencing within a supportive and empathetic environment and treating the problem through evidence-based interventions so that you are able to reach your goals and feel happier overall.

I recognise that having an understanding as to why certain thoughts feeling and behaviours are occurring is a really important part of the therapeutic process, this knowledge increases awareness of unhelpful cycles and allows us to be kinder to ourselves as we move towards improving our mental health. I also believe that learning skills within therapy that you can take forward to manage difficulties in the future is a central part of the process and my aim would be for you to learn to be your own therapist.

I started having Therapy with Tim. And I can’t believe what a difference he has made to me and my life. I’ve become a different person. I never thought this would be possible. My wife and I went to Alan after some relationship difficulties. From the beginning Alan was calm, friendly and non-judgemental. He took time to meet with us both and then individually, listening to our concerns in order to work out a plan going forward. He gently probed at our issues allowing us time to speak and explain our problems at our own pace. He then devised a bespoke treatment plan using a blend of CBT, talking therapies and hypnotherapy to best address our particular concerns. Alan took time to feedback to us as the treatment progressed as to how we were doing, what he anticipated were our specific triggers and how best to move forward to overcome them. Our sessions always finished with hypnotherapy which left us feeling upbeat, positive and ready to work towards a better future. The sessions were always relaxing and despite the, at times, difficult subject matter were calming, positive and reassuring. I highly recommend Alan for his bespoke treatments, kind, relaxing and non-judgemental demeanour.

After 4 failed attempts with counselling/therapy, I reached out to Barry during a particularly low point in my life. Within 2 sessions I had so much more clarity than I'd ever had with previous therapists. He has a talent of getting to the root of problems and issues, encouraging the use of your strengths and working on your weaknesses to help you see things in a different light. I have been working with Barry for over a year now, he has helped me understand why I have felt helpless in the past, and how to turn negative experiences into positive learning experiences. He has honestly changed my life for the better :-)
