I am working remotely with clients during this time, I can provide phone and online video counselling. I work as an integrative therapist, which means I am trained in and incorporate the three main psychotherapy approaches in my practice. These are Psychodynamic, Person Centred and CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy). I am therefore able to adapt the most beneficial aspects of these approaches to tailor my work to the needs of the individual client: after all, everyone is different and unique.

I offer both short and longer-term therapy and work in such a way to address the presenting needs and situation at the time that help is being sought. Should you like to continue for longer than initially set out we will work together to help reach that happier, healthier place. I firmly believe that putting your needs first will allow you to progress through the therapy. I care deeply.

Hampshire and Surrey Psychology was founded in 2006, we are a private practice of fully qualified Chartered Clinical and Counselling Psychologists, Psychotherapists and Psychiatrists. We are all HCPC registered, insured and DBS checked and have extensive NHS experience and further specialist training. We aim to make first class treatment available outside of the NHS. We all have stressful times in our lives when we need a little extra help to get through. Sometimes it is just a ‘phase’, a ‘bad patch’ or ‘something you have to live with’. But not always. And when it starts interfering with your life, professional help can make all the difference. We're here to help, do call us to see what the options are.
My clients often tell me that not only is seeking help a difficult decision but the idea of seeing a psychologist can seem rather daunting - as if you have to be really seriously unwell.
The reality is that psychologists are highly qualified and trained (for 6 -7 years) so that we can assess and offer therapy to a very broad range of clients - from counselling general stressful life events to assessing/diagnosing and treating very serious, complex and enduring problems. After qualification we have to keep up with developments in the field and often do further training to be able to specialise in particular areas. In addition to my broad spectrum work my special interest is in trauma and BPD working with adults and children. My colleagues have a variety of specialisms, so within the practice there will be someone who specializes in what you need - we work with adults and children.
I started in private practice alongside my NHS work and really enjoyed being able to work more flexibly with clients according to their needs.
However, like any lone worker I was in danger of becoming isolated - I also didn't know many trusted practitioners to refer clients on to if I didn't feel I had the right combination of skills or experience to help them successfully. Another psychologist whose work I knew asked to join me and the practice grew from there by word of mouth; other psychologists asked to join and clients passed us on to their friends and family and other professionals. GP's and Psychiatrists referred to us.
Now we have more than 50 psychologists and counsellors/psychotherapists who work alongside their NHS commitments and around childcare - we have general practice meetings where we all get together and people collaborate in their clinics.
I think it's a much better way to work, for us and for our clients.
If you make an enquiry to us we will come back to you ideally the same day, but certainly within 24 hours. Rather than having to make a number of calls to health professionals to see who would be appropriate, you can make one call to us and our friendly and experienced practice manager, Amanda, will be able to advise you who would be suitable for you, when they could offer an initial consultation and costs. You can then talk to your psychologist or counsellor directly and make an appointment is you wish. We are here to help you through the process - if for some reason we can't help we re happy to give advice.
