Philip Hellyer Coaching

I can help you achieve your business and career goals — for over a decade, I've worked with senior leaders in some of the largest companies in the world and with entrepreneurs at various stages of growth, helping them act with clarity. Whether you're tackling the challenges of a new position or transforming your entire organisation, my diverse background makes it easier to hold the conversations that you need. Coaching, Consulting, Facilitation, Mentoring — whatever title the work goes by, it's got to be in service of you, the Client. It needs to account for the whole context, for your aspirations (and doubts!) as well as those of the company and its stakeholders. ——— Don't take my word for it: * ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Arnaud says: “I’d love to work with Philip again and would have him advise me on any of my companies.” ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Dave says: “Philip is practical, understandable and adds real value on day one.” ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Mike says: “Any person or organisation considering anything new or a new way of doing things could not do better than to engage Philip as counsellor and adviser.” ——— This pragmatic multi-disciplinary approach is thanks to a background in accountancy, computing science, and humanities, a career at a FTSE100 company, and running businesses of my own. These days, I primarily work as a whole-system business consultant, helping investors, owners, and leaders generate and prioritise options — for change, growth, succession, or exit. My informal journey toward coaching and mentoring started over a decade ago, with an interest in behavioural psychology. In 2004 I read Time to Think and studied with Nancy Kline. Since then I've studied with the Association for Coaching as well as Co-Active Coaching, Organisation & Relationship-Systemic Coaching (ORSC), Facilitation, ISACA Enterprise Governance (CGEIT), Light Touch Change, NLP, Enterprise Mentoring, Capacity Building, and Systems Leadership. If that isn't enough, perhaps you'll take comfort from this: I used to be a Flying Trapeze instructor, where I learned how to give people the confidence to jump safely and outperform their own expectations. Looking forward to working together * More complete testimonials and case studies are available to view on my websites and linkedin profiles. What do you love most about your job?

Helping people think more clearly about their stuff. It's a privilege to be there as insights and new thoughts occur, and fantastic to witness the changes in their lives, careers, and businesses.

Even when I'm brought in for specific consulting skills, there are always elements of coaching, mentoring, and facilitation. Otherwise the solution and actions are out of step with what the client actually wants and needs.

What inspired you to start your own business?

In 2014 I made myself ‘redundant’ from a 15-year career and knew that I didn't just want to fall into another job. Since then, I've started 3 businesses and helped others do the same, to improve their existing businesses, or to establish internal consulting practices within larger organisations.

Why should our clients choose you?

Even though our primary topics will be about business and work, inevitably we'll talk about other things. Career, growth, balance, dealing with senior stakeholders, etc. Everything is connected to everything else, and we'll make space for that together.

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

Most of my clients prefer to use Zoom or Teams for our sessions. Other technologies are available, including plain old telephone calls.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

During the pandemic, in-person sessions were mostly held outdoors either in a café or walking together in a park.
