Ruth Wood Coaching Limited

I'm an ICF accredited executive and leadership coach, team coach and Strengthscope Practitioner committed to my own continuous development and giving my best to my clients. I work with both individuals and organisations, including the public sector, business owners and leaders working in corporate settings. I’ve been coaching for more than a decade and have coached clients on career change, setting up and growing businesses, developing leadership skills and resilience. This has included challenges like building confidence, finding clarity and purpose, tackling overwhelm, handling conflict and much more. I had a wonderful and varied 20 year career in government that ranged across diplomacy, policy-making, change management and latterly strategy and leadership roles. I coached as part of my management and leadership roles and loved it, and so following the adoption of our 3 children, I decided it was time for a change and chose to retrain and start my own business. My clients describe me as empathic, challenging, genuine and insightful. To find out more, message me to arrange a free 30 minute chat.

What do you love most about your job?

I love seeing clients not only reach the goals they’ve set themselves, but also the other transformations along the way - increased confidence, greater self-awareness and understanding and letting go of limiting beliefs that have been holding them back. These are the transformations that change lives.

What inspired you to start your own business?

Freedom! Having the freedom to choose who I work with and when I work is important to me. Having my own business also brings a lot of variety to my work which I really enjoy.

Why should our clients choose you?

I use a range of coaching approaches, tools and techniques in my work (from positive psychology to neuroscience to more normative approaches and somatic coaching) and draw on what works best with each client and their circumstances. We are all unique, our relationship as coach and coachee will also be unique and so I don’t subscribe to a single approach.

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

I usually work via zoom, although I’m also happy to work using most methods of video calling.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

I mainly operate remotely via Zoom, although I would be open to coaching while walking with local clients.

While both are focused on self-improvement, life and career coaching are two very different services. Life coaching is focused on reaching personal goals, whether that’s about relationships, building confidence, or finding meaning in life. Career coaching helps with challenges associated with your career. A career coach may help you cultivate skills such as career planning, interview techniques, CV writing and building confidence.

A business coach (or business consultant) is someone who can provide an outside perspective of you and your business, to provide new insight and strategies to help you reach your business goals. They’re trained in supporting a range of business goals, from driving sales and boosting revenue to supporting more personal career development, like building strong leadership qualities or improving focus and efficiency. Whatever your pain points, a business coach will help you tackle them head-on. They’re typically successful business owners themselves which means they can bring valuable experience to the table!

Whether you’re a one-person start-up or the managing director of a multinational company, we could all benefit from career coaching. Someone from the outside will be able to provide a fresh perspective on issues that you may not even have realised existed! If you’ve got a vision but have no idea how to make it into a reality, then a career coach will help you to break down your goals into manageable chunks to achieve them.

Whatever stage you’re at in your professional journey, a career coach can help you get there, whether it’s making small wins or a big change. If you’re stuck in a rut or looking for a major change in your career or business, a good business coach will help you to earn much more than the cost of their services.
