Reflections Counselling services

‘21 Certificate of Excellence

Hi there, I am Ann Corsar., and I am a counsellor, specialising in Integrative and holistic approach to counselling and mental wellbeing support. I am also a qualified Mental Health Practitioner with over 14 yrs. experience working in a variety of settings including impatient, community, Third sector, employability and voluntary services. Integrative counselling approach fits my own philosophy as it has at its very core, an unshakable belief that all people are individually unique and different, and therefore we all experiences and interpret our circumstances in our own unique ways. Because of our inherent differences, we may have differing psychological needs and/or problems that we experience from time to time and at various stages of our lives, and therefore may require a variety of relevant and evidence-based interventions that are tailored to our individual needs. My practice draws upon theoretical practice and interventions from various counselling therapy approaches (as well as my extensive clinical nursing practices and knowledge of mental health illness), and together we can work towards enabling you to define and explore your current psychological and mental health problems. Counselling support will involve discussing and exploring any negative feelings that you may be struggling with, thoughts you may have, as well as any corresponding behaviours that may very well maintain your current state of unhappiness or distress. Counselling support will also focus on helping you to achieve your aspirations (and recovery goals), offering a service that is tailored to suit your needs and unique circumstances. You may also need a space to just talk, figure things out, seek validation or reassurance from an empathic listening ear; I can assure you that during your counselling sessions, we can explore the problems that you are experiencing is as much detail as possible and at a pace that you are comfortable with. Any treatment interventions we agree upon, and implement will focus on you as an individual and what you can do, not on your condition or disability. I am a believer that each and every person can work towards achieving personal and meaningful recovery, given the correct conditions. That said, the counselling and mental health and wellbeing support I offer, aims to foster a professional client-counsellor relationship that is governed by honesty and accountability, a non-judgmental attitude and a full acceptance of your unique circumstances whilst being fully integrated in the relationship. I offer in-person (face to face), online and telephone counselling and mental wellbeing support to individuals aged 18 years and above, who are struggling with: Anxiety, Depression, Anger awareness and management, ADHD/ASD support for clients and carers, Low self-esteem, Low confidence, Low Motivation Addiction problems, Grief/loss, Bereavement counselling and support, motivation issues and Stress awareness and management problems. What do you love most about your job?

I believe everyone has the ability to manage, cope with and/or resolve their psychological and/or mental health problems given the appropriate and timely support. However, fear, negative thoughts, a lack of self-belief and external and internal stressors will cause us to believe that we are incapable of doing this. I love talking with and supporting individuals to find their inner strength to manage and overcome their concerns. I acknowledge this process may take sometime, however, I am with you as long as you require for me to be there.

What inspired you to start your own business?

It was a recognition and appreciation that everyone (including myself), at various times in our lives, needs support. We all need a safe space to talk, cry, explore difficult/distressing feelings and thoughts, laugh - I want to offer this service for individuals needing this support as well as encouragement.

Why should our clients choose you?

I am a counsellor, specialising in Integrative counselling approach to mental health and wellbeing support. I am also a qualified Mental Health Practitioner (RMN), having over 14 years of mental health nursing experience in services including Addiction, Primary care, CMHT and Employability services and third sector organisations. I have extensive experiences working with individuals from walks of life who have experienced a variety of psychological and mental health problems. My work ethos has always been working in partnership with clients to promote and facilitate the achievement of personal recovery (an individual's ability to manage, cope with or ultimately resolve his or her problems).

Qualifications - Post Grad Diploma Specialist Counsellor; Post Grad Certificate in online Counselling; MSc (Psychology and Mental Health); BSc Nursing (Mental Health); BSc Psychology; MA Human Recourses Management

The support I offer, aims to foster a client-therapist professional relationship that is governed by honesty and accountability, a non-judgmental attitude and a full acceptance of your unique circumstances whilst being fully integrated in the relationship.
